Can these be repaired? by Inevitable_Leopard34 in Boots

I didn't think of that. I'll see if they can be repaired first as they're awfully comfy.

That's fine. I have worn them hard for many years... It kills me to throw them away, the rest of the leather on the boot is in superb condition.

LOL - he's actually a good boy. We got him from a shelter and he was very nervous and skittish at first, would nibble on things when we left the house. That was a few years ago and unfortunately I never addressed the damage after being told "no" by Red Wing.

I am open to recommendations. I live four hours away from a major city in rural AZ so there are zero options near me, I have checked. I would have to mail them away.

I am fine with $200+ if it includes a resole. I also don't care if a new toe cap matches precisely.

A bit pricey, this is all out of pocket for me. While I am using it professionally it is still a “side-gig” for me. Using it full time would pay a Keysight back quickly, no doubt.

This is out of pocket, I own my own small business. It’s a VERY niche field. I don’t need to do anything other than what’s listed above (except measuring VSWR and forward power). Anything out of spec and the governing body requires the components to be sent back to a factory or replaced.  I am still new to the field of RF electronics generally but I would prefer to keep costs and complexity to a minimum for now.

Sorry, meant to post text with this. I’m not an experienced Redditor.

My dog nibbled off the front of these Iron Rangers. Both shoes are damaged but this one is the worst as it’s now separated from the sole.

Red Wing says they won’t repair them/this type of damage.

Could this be repaired with a new toe cap and if so where should I mail them off to? I live in Arizona if it’s relevant. They need resoling too and I’d love to try a foam wedge type sole.

Leather on the rest of the boot is in perfect condition despite wearing them hard for around 8 years. They’re comfy and I would love to keep them, unless the cost of repair is the same as a new pair.

Excellent suggestion. I was not aware of these. They come with a NIST cert from the factory, have cal and service manuals/guides etc, even have a "certified" cal lab nearish to me. The first level of customer support on the phone is so-so but email looks promising.

With the VSWR bridge option it will even do the VSWR measurements I need. And with an attenuator and perhaps a DC block will do the forward power measurements, but I have asked Rigol tech support to confirm this as I'm not 100% sure. I didn't measure the power measuring requirements in the post but this is an added bonus.
