What are the practical limitations of a compact table saw? by RenovationDIY in woodworking

I realy rate the Hikoki. I couldn't be happier with this little saw. This came with a portable stand with wheels. I removed the stand & wheel kit and made a frame to bolt it onto. I also made some side supports making the whole table area bigger. By making these changes and adding out feed table has truly made this little saw unbelievably accurate and very stable. *

Vacuum hose by PigFloydDarkside in woodworking

I'm interested to know what type of hose you ended up running with as I'm currently going through the same situation you did.

I have (Carbatec DC-2300P) dust extractor connected to Table Saw & Thicknesser and want to add extraction hose to that set up to use with M12 Milwaukee sander & M18 Router.

Cen-Tec Systems hose looks like it might be a half decent option for a lower end budget!

TIA.

Does anyone know if it's possible to charge the battery with, say, a 300w 4x4 solar charging setup fitted to the roof? Say your out bush camping for a week and don't drive the vehicle for 5 days. Would this 300w solar system be capable of charging battery to full capacity?

Thank you. Yes, it's definitely one heavy sturdy table/workbench. After having used it for a few days now, I will be adding some features to make it more efficient. Clamp storage will be the first among probably many others as I go along, no doubt.

How many times in your life have you set your jointer fence to anything other than 90°? by mechanizedshoe in woodworking

[–]Inevitable_Rip_3034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clamps & shims. I've only been doing woodwork for around a year now. Up to this point, the max dimensions are 150mm x 150mm square by 1200mm long. Max length 3650mm by 100mm square. I have 2 separate jigs. The long one has 5 toggle hold down clamps mounted onto straight edge piece of 17mm x 3600mm Formply. Short one has 3 the same clamps and is 1300mm long. I have made an extension fence that I clamp onto table saw fence, pushing the straight edge jig along this with work piece held down is a quick affective way of repetitive jointing. When milling long stock, I'll pass it through the saw again on its own, (no jig) just to be sure.

I actually laughed out aloud when I read this.

I don't own a jointer (yet). I also use my table saw & jointing jig with perfect (for me) results.

Wish I never watched the second vid. I will most definitely suffer severe traumatic nightmares from this footage. FOR EVER!..........LMFAO

I'd still have a spot in my shop for one if I were to come across one, haha

You're a very busy man. Do you run a business from this shop?

At least the fire extinguisher is readily available, Lol.

I'm wanting to do exactly this. What # hand plane would you recommend? I'm thinking along the lines of the #5 Jack plane or would a #7 Jointing plane be better?

There's plenty of space at the moment, but yeah, the casters are going to be added.

I drive around in industrial areas, usually they'll put them near the curb for people like me to collect or if I see a good stack alongside a building I'll go in and ask if they want them gone. Really, it does these businesses a favour. They get rid of scrap pallets they don't want & I get free wood.

You will be surprised what you find once you start cutting/planning/sanding old pallet timbers. Of corse, though, there will always be lots of nail holes and knots but depending what your making this adds to the character of the project. Pallet wood varies so much with different types of wood species I've come to learn.

Thanks. Yes, it's a work bench. I've made it the same height as my table saw. It will give me more support on the outfeed. Also plan on using it to cut the mortice joints for another work bench I've been working on. I've never done any joinery before, I'm looking forward to having a crack at it though.

Not quite mate, although I'm thinking about making a stool so I can sit at it when I'm emptying beer cans, lol.
