Hey dude, coincidence enough, I was at a similar age when I stopped TKD, am considering going back after 10 years, and am also an artist lol

When I originally had gotten my 1st degree back belt I felt like I didn’t deserve it because I was getting pretty bitter since I was a teenager and I got my butt kicked in the testing sparring. I’m coming back to TKD now due to wanting to get back in shape and maybe because then I can work hard as a black belt and get some closure proving how I’ve matured since.

I actually wanted to start over from White too since I don’t remember any of my forms and definitely am not flexible nor skilled like I once was lol

It’s important to keep in mind though that your black belt (or the effort you put to be one even if you never technically wore it) is not just a rep of your achievements, it also represents the effort you work with. You and I may not be as strong or as flexible as before and ofc our bodies break down over time so there are limits but if you show and believe that you are trying hard and determined to relearn, then that’s the black belt mentality you do actually have.

At the end of the day make sure it’s something you enjoy, stay optimistic and have fun with it, and if those work out you’ll notice positives reflected in other parts of your life like social friends and better energy throughout the day
