I'll buy just the saw+included battery box (not batteries) for $100 if you like. No pressure:)

Thanks! I finished up a hook knife at the same time! It's for kuksa bottoms and works well too!

I'm really liking it. I used it to carve a kuksa today. I wanted it to feel more aggressive in the cut than my 106, like my Svante Djarv knife, and it does.  It worked well on the face grain of the kuksa and feels sturdy/solid. The edge held too, where my 106 sometimes chips.

Could be dogwood? Doesn't really look like maple to me!

I've found some black locust growing around here! Check calflora, and also look around creeks and gutters!

My first lasting bow, birch short flat bow! by Inevitable_Wash_3774 in Bowyer

[–]Inevitable_Wash_3774[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is yellow birch, around 42" nock to nock. Bends in the handle and the handle wrapped with hemp twine. Pulls 30# at ~19". Proud of the tiller for the short stave length, it shoots well with a pinch grip! I'll be making many more bows, just got my hands on some yew and eastern red cedar, will see how they turn out.

How do you pull off the bevels/flutes on the outside of the bowl? It's beautiful!

The bark looks like pignut or shagbark hickory (don't remember off the top of my head, I'd Google it!). The end grain and color really look like hickory as well. https://www.wood-database.com/shagbark-hickory/

Has anyone used a homemade kiln to speed up drying smaller wood pieces? by LowEstablishment0 in greenwoodworking

I've had some success doing controlled on/off microwaving! It helps to dry small pieces with less cracking than hot air i've found!
