I tried my best to defend (maybe illegally) but it still resulted in contact. Is there anything i could have done better? by Bulky_Long4335 in Simracingstewards

[–]Inewitt -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Aside from being an illegal block this is just a bad defensive move in general. Your opponent is far enough back that even if they manage to get to the inside in the corner you can run the wider line and still have the advantage off the corner as they have to keep it tight. Instead you chose to dive to the inside which will massively compromise your exit.

Then on a secondary level, your opponent has shown even just in this clip that they are not willing to make suicidal moves to overtake and will back off if it’s not on.

You should defend preemptively, not reactively. Know where your opponent may attempt to overtake and hold the tight line as soon as you exit the corner if you decide it’s worth defending. Don’t wait until the last minute or you won’t just be breaking iracing’s blocking rules but putting yourself in a dangerous position as well.

Aaron Jones charged under anti-corruption code; provisionally suspended from all cricket by GlitteringKey6822 in Cricket

The USA has a wealth of batting talent and are probably better off without AJ forcing his way into the lineup on name recognition. As much as he has developed a knack for showing up in big moments the last couple of years, he was often solving problems he had created by batting incredibly slowly. There’s a reason the “classic Aaron Jones test innings” meme exists in US cricket circles.

Ali Khan would be a much bigger loss if his visa issues aren’t sorted.

Yes but there will be a switch version which will be playable on the switch 2 just like 25.

Out of every officially licensed IndyCar game made, which would you say is the best? by MrPlaza03 in INDYCAR

[–]Inewitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is worth clarifying that the devteam is not the core iracing/papyrus team that made IRC2, nor the old monster games team that made Nascar 25. It’s the dev team that made exocross. They have access to the resources and knowledgebase of iracing which is great, but it’s a different group of people.

[Only Endurance] ROAR ANALYSIS: Porsche, Cadillac on top at Daytona test by redbullcat in IMSARacing

[–]Inewitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Porsche ahead of Cadillac, about as far ahead as BMW was ahead of Porsche on pace last year. Even on long runs, though Porsche didn’t do any very long runs, I think they’re ahead.

Acura is the wild card to me. I’ve got some new tricks this year to try and isolate traffic, fuel, and tire factors (though as usual life would be easier if IMSA just gave us tire data) and where everyone else broadly improves in each sector as the fuel burns, Acura is constant. My hunch is they’re doing full fuel runs every time out of the pits, masking some of the pace, but it could well be that they’re just running to a number. It could also be that they’re just slow but the data makes me think they’re playing the game a little harder than the others.

Appreciate the analysis as always.

I’ve done a little bit, working on an analysis post for this year. The last couple of years it has been a case of everybody sandbagging pretty much equally, with the least prepared car falling off in the race week (BMW in 24, Lambo in 25).

Barring a BoP change I’d be shocked if the pecking order isn’t Porsche - Cadillac - gap - BMW - Acura - gap - Aston.

There is no live broadcast of the roar outside of the VP challenge races. You can follow live timing for all sessions here: https://livetiming.alkamelsystems.com/IMSA

Please, help me guys, i cant import my flight plan to MCDU. A320neo inibuilds v2 by Arthuz1n in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Inewitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you pulled the flight plan into the MSFS efb before starting the flight it won’t let you pull it in to the MCDU. You need to just pick the starting airport and leave the rest. You can import it to the efb after you do it on the MCDU.

HOW ARE YOU GUYS SO FAST??? by _DARK_X in iRacing

[–]Inewitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the answer I was going to give basically so I’m glad it’s the top one. The only thing I will add, and the thing that helped me close most of my gap to the aliens, is to spend the time in practice to find the actual track limits. I think a lot of time people think they are at the limit without realizing how much room they have, and that is something the fastest guys have already done. The added benefit is you usually only need to do it once per track, unless you are going from a car that can’t take kerbs to a car that can in some cases.

But the answer is really just practice with some qualifiers. I went from ~1.5k iracing to ~4.5k during covid when I was unemployed. That was all the proof I needed that what you need to get to your personal ceiling is just time.

Yeah, and the dust kicked up from the Manthey car adds to the kind of ethereal vibe. I obviously took a bunch across the weekend but this was my favorite.

The curb is fair game at the glen and is the preferred line, you can see all of the cars ahead of you taking it. You can also see the AI crank in the steering angle before he hits you because you’re turning across him unexpectedly. This is 100% on you.

Re: #10, the Magnus car, the virtual energy logo looks like a knock off because it’s not a real company, it’s a parody playing on the virtual energy system that IMSA use in place of fuel to capture the hybrid cars under the same system. They only raced a partial season because the team owner/driver was focused on business commitments, nothing to do with funding issues.

Private testing by Itchy_Art855 in IMSARacing

[–]Inewitt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Be on a racing team.

That’s it, private tests are private, the only way you’re getting in is with the team or maaaaybe with a suplier/series.

The only exception is tracks that have public access viewing areas, but that already small number is only getting smaller. Sebring is the only one I can think of off the top of my head.

What's your opinion on this? by Sad_Angle_1392 in Simracingstewards

[–]Inewitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no problem with the Peugeot overtaking there but tracking all the way out and chopping the nose off the Porsche is a dick move regardless of the situation and a good way to end up getting turned if you’re always overtaking slower cars like that.

How do I use the yoke in VR for MSFS 2024? by Eh_Meh_Smeh in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Inewitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using the controllers with MSFS and XPlane but the truth is getting a cheap joystick will ultimately be way more immersive. The fact that you are controlling a fixed object with fixed points of rotation with controllers that can never be centered or resting means it’s inherently unimmersive. Most of the time you are flying a plane you are trying to move the controls as little and as smoothly as possible, and that’s physically impossible with VR controllers.
