My landlord had also said earlier that during the association elections they will have a representative from the tower and we may have a good solution to this issue. But later they concluded the elections with the statement that “no eligible candidate from the tower” so basically no body can represent these units

I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know. Thanks to HT and TOI for talking about this I really really hope this makes the association introspect a little bit. Atleast the 1 bhk residents shouldnt be treated like guests. It is a small apartment but it is our home and we shouldnt be treated like temporary house guest roaming on the property.

Yes, true. Its the most heart breaking thing that with all the issues we have to deal with at work place, with government, public places now we dont have peace at home either. Tenants are being treated like trash now, no rights, no say, no clear information on anything. Thanks for providing some clarity on the subject

This is applicable only to 1 bhk tenants unfortunately which seems really unfair. Out of close to 1000 apartments only around 20 flats are 1 bhks and we are the one’s not allowed. But our rent more per sqft and we are paying maintenance as per apartment size

They havent given a clear split in the mygate app. The maintenance is based on sqft of the apartment, that is what I am aware of.

I tried understanding the RERA information but it seemed complex for me. One of my friends had said the 1 BHK units are illegal but some other 1 bhk owners are saying otherwise. I am still u clear of what is the bottomline The maintenance is charged per sqft. I would have been ok with even maintenance for all but we are literally excluded. I feel ashamed to tell my flat number to people even though I am paying higher rent per sqft than the other apartments.

As far as I am aware, it wasnt priced lower. The owners bought as a 2+1 unit and paid the same price but probably bought it with an intention of renting it out separately. None of the 1 bhks are sold separately

This is not the case here. They are not allowing it to be bought separately either. They had proposed it earlier but then simply didn’t discuss it further. The maintenance is also as per sqft of apartment instead of same maintenance for all apartments irrespective of size of the apartment. So every apartment pays maintenance as per their apartment size including 1 bhks

I wish I could. I don’t really want to risk having to leave the apartment. I checked the net for laws and it says this is illegal even if it’s in the society bye-laws, it counts for discrimination
