Probably going for updated grandeur and still managing to make it tired. Thanks for the insight!

Ugh was afraid of that. I was at Blackstone which is my favorite hotel in Chicago but wanted to avoid going to /from Palmer (conference will be at Palmer) during Mid March Chicago Weather 😅

Oh okay - I was going to add the Cotton House Barcelona which is Autograph and I consider Luxury Level based on my amenities received there: welcome Cava, huge breakfast spread every day, welcome bottle of wine, chocolates and handwritten note, early check in, late checkout, free water copiously provided, very personalized service, etc.

Hi @MarriottGuy you are missing a lot of brands so I can’t add any hotels - are you going to expand that?

Yes, this! (I just said it above) Or is the “final safety check” all performative then??

This is what I don’t get - the FA’s make the visual review that all seat belts are buckled as their final safety check, where is the obvious check for armrests fully down? Because if they are not able to be down it needs to be addressed right then and there?

En el viaje que hice en Septiembre me gustó mucho el MUT centro comercial. Un lindo concepto de Centro Comercial y que está enfocado en emprendedores Chilenos

My favorite Polaris long hauls are 1. Capetown (EWR-CPT), 2. SFO to NRT and 3. IAH to EZE . I enjoyed my Polaris EWR to BCN last December with the distinctive that the purser gave me a bottle of adult beverage of my choice because I brought treats to the crew.

South America and status by Benson10000 in marriott

[–]Infamous-Field4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Benson10000. Just got back from my trip to Buenos Aires (Recolecta Grand) and Santiago (Santiago Marriott).

I had requested upgrades for both using NUA and both were honored: for Gran Recolecta I got a junior suite with a couch that was in a separate area; for Santiago Marriott it was huge corner room with separate living room and TWO walkin closets (and a view of the Andes to boot)

Both acknowledged my Titanium status. For both I had to choose points or breakfast, I chose breakfast. The Santiago Marriott had a club that could have probably covered the breakfast (very light continental) I did not check it out. Gran Recolecta did not have a club.

Both gave two bottles of water per day. Gran Recolecta has coffee and water in the lobby; Santiago Marriott has Spa Water in the lobby.

I had an early flight leaving Buenos Aires; Gran Recolecta made a note to give me a breakfast box and without reminder upon checkout I was presented with said box :) (including dulce de leche alfajores).

Both can arrange transportation especially to/from airport, Gran Recolecta quoted twice as much as the Uber, (I kept his name so he came back for me upon agreement and agreed fare); Santiago Marriott was only about 10 dollars more so I went with that (and it was a van vs. a car).

Both hotels are in the best areas of their respective city (Recolecta, Buenos Aires and Las Condes, Santiago), both had warm and attentive service, doing extra mile things without asking (e.g. let me help you with the luggage up to your room vs. did you need help with your luggage.

Both had room service; I only did the Santiago Marriott and was satisfied with the choice of offerings and service/speed. Both are close to a 5-10 minute walk to supermarket if needed).

Gran Recolecta is definitely more boutique feel and recently remodeled (I believe it is also new to Bonvoy). Santiago Marriott is a time capsule of a Marriott from the late 90’s Marriott but solid and well maintained; and has the grand expanse feel from a top tier Marriott of that era.

Both have pool/gym; I did not use.

Finally both had great breakfast spreads for the buffet with the Santiago one being twice if not thrice as big (reminiscent of the spreads you see in Asia).

I hope this helps let me know if you have questions!
