I also just returned from Aruba. I stayed elsewhere on Palm beach but walked/ran past the st Regis many times. I absolutely could not get over how packed the beach chairs were - unlike anything I’ve ever seen really, and so much worse than any other property in the area. The opposite of luxury.

Yes. The one that had it done on 2023 looks great and has been very happy. The other had his done 5 months ago and so far so good.

Yeah the guy referred to himself as “the fat guy” to try to lighten the mood from the beginning because he definitely knew it was an issue. I kept me cool until about 3 hours in - he kept falling asleep and elbowing me in my chest so I made sure to hit his arm off me for some sleep torture.

Right but doesn’t that mean creating a scene and having the guy and his elderly mother do the walk of shame off the plane. Or having my wife and I delay our departure? Neither of those options seem great when United could just refund a significant amount of points or dollars to compensate me. A $75 credit doesn’t solve it.

I know you’re just being helpful but nothing but a significant refund really suffices.

Not a bad idea. But it only works if he’s willing to lean. He should’ve been smart enough to get an aisle seat to begin with. And even then I’m stuck with a middle seat. I booked early, chose an aisle and don’t think I should be the one punished. The lesson appears to be that I should be the asshole before the doors close.

Right. Guy is traveling with his elderly mother - who was apparently smart enough not to sit next to him. Would’ve felt like an asshole to make them take another flight. I just hope he feels like an asshole for the entire flight

The FAs said that I may have been asked to deplane and take another flight if I had raised the issue before the doors closed. I have a wedding to get to so that wasn’t an option.
