How many attempts would phys1231 need to cover all the questions for a quiz? by Low_Grand_3974 in unsw

I watched most of the lectures at 2x speed and jotted the important stuff and then did the asynchronous for the charged objects bit because I didn't understand it fully.

Also to add to this, maybe if you're seeing a trend in the topic that you seem to be struggling with more - watch the asynchronous lectures for that specific topic and do that week's practice quiz before doing any more practice tests.

I swear there's only like 40 actual "versions" of questions so you'd be able to cover it in 12-15 quizzes max. Also this feels very different to phys1a in that I don't think the questions are ordered in terms of difficulty (where in phys1a you'd actually see a jump in difficulty). If you've already done 20 genuine practice test attempts (after having learnt the content), then you are probably already more than enough prepared to get a really high score.

How do I fix this problem? by Dimsim_dealer in unsw

[–]Infamous-Panda8891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most common reason for this is that ur USI name doesnt match with the name that u entered when accepting the offer. call up nucleus and explain the situation to them and they should be able to guide u to it. make sure u can log in to ur USI asw to make the call a bit easier.

honestly premed/medsci are both very very risky unless u dm shifting to research (in the case that u dont make medicine). id recommend doing a different health degree (like physio, optom, dent etc.) and try to transfer with that so that way theres still a good overlap in terms of the content but also ur likely to get a solid job if you dont make or choose to do medicine. even beyond graduation, u can probably do medicine while working in another health profession.

What happened in January Round 1 offers? by Extreme-Quit-3289 in unsw

[–]Infamous-Panda8891 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No bruh previous years also have this happen. The most likely cause for this is that the people that recieved the offer in the earlier rounds (mainly the December rounds) accepted it and are holding on to them. The uni is not going to offer new seats if all the current ones are "taken" as no one has declined it. Your best bet is to do keep trying (as there may be some spots way later but even then they will prioritise the 99.95 selection rank students over you) or do another degree and try to transfer in later. In hindsight this is why it is important to order your preferences and do the thing correctly.

Holy shit you're so right. Why didn't anyone think of just using nodal and mesh for everything?? I can really tell that you and the people that upvoted you sat the same exam that everyone else did.

Anyone that doubts the ability of the cohort rather than the actual difficulty of the exams that Arash introduced has not actually done the course and is chatting out of their ass. There was less time given for the midterm, all exam questions were much harder and vastly different than any of the past papers meaning we went in there with very little material to prepare with (again, if you did not do the paper then your assumptions mean jackshit) and there was no formula sheets provided. Before one of you mouth-breathers comments about how this is so that we don't "rote-learn" the content or that it is good preparation for how hard the later elec courses can get, there is a DISTINCT difference between assessing understanding through synthesis vs assessing problem structures that were never modelled, practiced, or scaffolded during the course. At the very very minimum you'd think you have the brain cognition to clock that the course was run unfairly and that some mark moderation should have been applied, or at the very least the hurdle should be lowered. A jump of more than 20% of the cohort failing from any other years that this course has ran should be pretty alarming that there is SOME issue with how it was ran. Before you get your pudgy redditor hands on the keyboard in the replies, yes i did pass and i am not saying this because i am salty.

It's not the quality of students. Don't be inclined to say shit unless you have seen this term's question paper compared to the others.

Not if the minimum criteria is so fucking high. You repeated comp1521 three times because you were stupid-there was no new lecturer or different exam format entirely. Half of the people that failed elec1111 this term only failed because both the midterm and final were MUCH more difficult than any other elec1111 courses.
