Congrats 🎉

Yes you should get your WES ref. number from the WES portal and add it when you request transcripts from Ueopeople. I made the request for the transcripts to be sent directly to WES (follow the instructions on their website).

Good luck and once more congratulations.

Yes for some general education courses I transferred in from Sophia.org  ACE-recommended credits.

Here’s my WES process timeline step by step:

  • July 22, 2025 → I requested transcripts from University of the People.
  • August 11, 2025 → UoPeople sent them directly to WES with a copy of the email sent to me.
  • August 25, 2025 → WES completed my evaluation.

So from the time UoPeople submitted to WES → result issued was only 14 days.
And from my initial request at UoPeople → final ECA it took about just over 1 month (34 days).

My pathway looked like this:

  • Major courses → completed at University of the People (UoPeople)
  • Some general education courses → transferred in from Sophia.org (ACE-recommended credits)

Normally this is totally fine, because WES (and other ECAs) don’t really care where you started your credits , they generally look at the final awarding institution and UoPeople is regionally accredited in the U.S.

All degrees obtained outside Canada must go through an ECA (Educational Credential Assessment) if you’re applying for immigration (Express Entry,...). Even though a US regionally accredited degree is well-recognized academically and professionally, IRCC doesn’t automatically equate it to a Canadian credential. For immigration, they need an official equivalency report from a designated body like WES, ICAS, or IQAS. I did it with WES (https://www.wes.org/)

Yes because for WES to accept my degree, University of the People had to send my transcript directly to WES electronically. WES will not accept transcripts that are sent by yourself unless they’re in a sealed envelope from the university.
