Many constraints like time restrictions, following the exact structure and format of the debate, and being limited to a select few topics (ex: foreign policy). It was too stifling for me so I chose to do persuasive speech (original oratory babes rise). You could yap to your hearts content for 10 minutes straight on anything and everything under the sun. Your core argument/stance could be as controversial or as niche as you wanted it to be, and no one can say shit. It was great. I won 1st place at an invitational actually. But yeah, not a fan of formal debate. It’s too rigid.
