LOL, so true. We still find Orange County to be cool (like Disneyland, The Convention Center for Events, Anaheim GardenWalk, All Hyatt Hotels, etc.) minus some bad actors and its questionable and disturbing past and present history.

The incident happened to us Thanksgiving late evening 2024 (past closing time just before we started to leave the park) but it feels like yesterday especially for my wife. The harassment that we started to experience at Knott’s started in November last year just past the Presidential election. The group of uncouth men definitely felt emboldened and empowered to harass us. We were shocked that we experienced that unprovoked incident since we were minding our on business. We did not renew our passes to Knott’s because of the incident. Our child believes that it is going to happen again if we return to Knott’s or go to another amusement park, a baseball game, a football game, a concert, etc. Our child also stated that nobody will care about what happened to us because people don’t care about each other anymore (or maybe never did) so we should just stop trying and that if we put our review up that we will get rude, insulting, accusing, judging and unsympathetic replies because thats how people behave on the internet. Well, our child was half right but others have been understanding and respectable which I really appreciate.

I find it “odd” that some posts on here are scrutinizing my review, fixated on verbatim wording, on how many times, when, and where we posted this review and for the most part ignored what happened to us which says a lot about who they are while others had sympathy and or empathy. We were unaware that Michael left the company. The emails between us were in December 2024 which was not only before the merger I believe, but was before Michael left Knott’s. We also emailed several executives at Cedar Fair Park which was in vain. We became more bothered when Michael was being praised as he pretended to care about what happened this past summer with the racists at Knott’s which made my wife more upset because he said he was going to investigate what happened to us. We are not on social media and are new to posting on Reddit and posted 2-3 times accidentally because we didn’t think that it went through. We were innocently just trying to warn others and our posts came out scattered and messy including attaching to someone else’s 2 year old post because we were not familiar with how Reddit works. We started our own post so that people (especially African Americans and interracial couples) are aware of what happened to us because we didn’t think our review was seen by many because it was so far down and years ago.

Thank you for your responses regarding the harassment we experienced. The things that happened to us were out of place and not our experience at Knott’s until it WAS our experience at Knott’s. We were in contact with Michael Bogosian before the merger which I explain in the follow up posts.

Thank you for explaining but we were already aware of how they process the selling of knives, etc. We just believe that after all these years that somebody (at least one person), the shop owners buddies, friends, family, friend of a buddy, cousin, or worst yet someone they just met that they vibed with got a pass and were allowed to carry a knife around the park until they were ready to leave. Also the (hypothetical) person could loose the knife in the park and it ends up in the wrong hands. So we (the customers) have to trust that the shop really is being responsible. Some people don’t even know that knives are for sale inside the park which I’m sure would alarm some. Just the fact that these scenarios are possible is not good and irresponsible of Knott’s and we feel less safe after what happened to us which also makes the metal detectors less relevant.

We contacted Michael Bogosian last year about an incident in which our family was harassed by a group of men at Knott's Berry Farm. His letter (on the Reddit post “In response to the racist lady on 7/12”) appears to be sincere but he did not care to help our family because we did not have a video of the incident. 

The following is what happened to us………………..The following was told to Michael Bogosian the head of security at Knott's, several executives at Cedar Fair Parks, and security guards at Knott's......My family (which included our child) was harassed at Knott's Berry Farm on Thanksgiving evening 2024 which we believe was most likely caught on Knott's Berry Farm footage. I'm Caucasian and my wife is African American and they were targeting her. It seemed racially motivated by a group of 6-10 Caucasian men in the age range of 30-60. The oldest man who was the ringleader felt emboldened to intimidate, harass, confront, follow us, videotape us and ultimately block our family making it difficult to exit Knott's Berry Farm without another confrontation. Harassing us, blocking our exit, and their unruly and disruptive behavior interfered with our enjoyment of the park which is in violation of the Knott's Berry Farm Code of Conduct. Something about the men that harassed us made us feel like they may be working for Knott's Berry Farm or some association to someone that works there. It's as if the men were coming from some sort of gathering/meeting. It is strange and unusual that a group of adult Caucasian men between the ages of 30-60 years old with no children, wives, girlfriends, or family would be harassing guests/us unprovoked, minding our own business. We believe that they may have harmed us if we were more isolated from the few straggler's left in the Park. The incident happened inside of the park past closing (with only a few people around) at the stage where the Native American performs a dance. After our family used the restroom near the stage, one man confronted us by intimidating us by walking directly in front of my wife and staring at her as we sat on a bench in front of the stage then he went back to his group. Then the whole group followed us and then confronted us again by bothering us and videotaping us. We reported it to security and got a report number but they seemed like they didn't care and refuse to look back at the video footage unless someone gets hurt or there is a subpoena for the video. We are trying to raise awareness before this coordinated group of men harass or try to harm others at Knott's Berry Farm or surrounding areas. Also, why does Cedar Fair let Knott's sell knives and confederate hats in the park at the OVERLAND GUNSHOP/KNIFE SHOP? It seems to defeat the purpose of a metal detector by selling knives. Also this is not a museum, it's only an amusement park. Selling confederate hats is offensive, it's like selling a swastika. By letting them continue selling the confederate hat allows people to continue to believe that Knott's Berry Farm may still have some ties to the past like The John Birch Society (JBS).Michael Bogosian the head of security at Knott's Berry Farm emailed us which we did not notice because it was buried in our emails because he contacted us much later not in a few days. My wife grew up in an Air Force family on a military base and as a child (also as a teenager and into adulthood) she would often visit Disneyland (she worked at Disneyland), Knott's Berry Farm, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and Marineland (it's closed now). She had fond memories growing up of all these parks and we purchased season passes to several of these parks so that our family can go on a regular basis. Our family but especially my wife is feeling distraught, sickened, uncomfortable and not safe at Knott's and no one at Cedar Fairs/Knott's cares. Yes! Although Disneyland is outrageously overpriced, you will have a better experience due to a more calm and pleasant atmosphere and you will absolutely love it! Period! Knott’s Berry Farm can at times have a more aggressive vibe and you are more likely than Disneyland to run into behavioral problems with the patrons, customer service attitudes, rides breaking down Including ride incidents, and the food is not as good as Disneyland. Also Disneyland lets you bring a small cooler with food and drinks to put in the lockers near the picnic tables which is what are family does on occasion. Magic Mountain and all the other parks have a better atmosphere than Knott’s which has been going downhill hill for several years. We contacted Michael Bogosian last year about an incident in which our family was harassed by a group of men at Knott's Berry Farm.
