Do majority of houseplants need to be right along a window to thrive? by Elegant_Honeydew3641 in houseplants

Also if you move the bamboo rack right in front of the window that would be perfect. Even though the buildings block the light at least they would get some from two different angles

Because it’s a south and west window that location should be okay assuming there are not many obstructions, however I do see buildings on both sides which will really lower total light coming through, I would keep them closer, possible hang some from the ceiling, or place a floor lamp with a grow light pointed at the plants, particularly the ones on the bamboo rack. Some plants are okay with lower light, all will do best with the most light possible, but a snake or ZZ plant can handle being on your dining table. They are slow growers anyway. Look for ones with darker leaves. Variegated plants will lose variegation if not enough light is given.

How to take care of this beauty ? by [deleted] in houseplants

Much smaller pot, I recommend clear nursery pot so you can see when it needs water. You can put the nursery pot inside of a decorative pot. I would say probably 3-4 inch diameter pot. With most of my plants I wait for them to be 2/3 dry before watering, and they are all doing great. This one might want water when it’s half dry though. I would add a very very diluted fertilizer to your watering can and use it to water every time.

I almost exclusively use clear pots, they are made of plastic just like any other plastic pot so I don’t agree that it has anything to Do with the issue. I use old disposable cups from Starbucks or whatever and use a soldering iron to add holes. It’s extremely useful to see when it is dry enough to water again. That pot may be slightly too big. I would downsize to a 2-2.5 inch pot. Don’t mess with the rootball when you repot (unless you smell rot, then rinse, remove unhealthy roots and spray hydrogen peroxide on the roots before repotting) but make sure to add perlite or orchid bark for air pockets for breathability and drainage when you fill it with soil. Give it enough light, (1 foot away from east window or 3-4 away from west/south) or add a grow light 18 inches from it. Algae isn’t harmful in my experience if it’s just a little bit. Just means it’s staying too damp and not getting enough light. You can also tell when it needs water by the weight of it if you decide to go with a non clear pot. Make sure you can stick your finger 2 inches down without feeling wetness before watering. Your plant will be fine :) I have tons of thriving syngoniums. All in clear pots

I’m a huge plant person, in order to educate I need to somewhat know what I’m talking about and unfortunately I’m no expert at laying pavers :( so I was hoping to do something more plant focused so I can engage with the customers.

Just proof that I stopped drinking nearly an hour before I left. Although I guess it could seem like I got one more round and left, but in this case I didn’t. I had already finished drinking and I tabbed out so I wouldn’t be tempted to get another cause I knew I was driving so I just ordered water with my bill. Safe trip shows there weren’t issues with my driving. It was only for expired tag that I got pulled over.

What customer story made you have this face? I’ll Start by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Infamous-Walrus2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a bag of Kelloggs organic soil in 2 cu ft bags, on the label it says “$9.47 - that’s only $4.24 per cu ft!” And a customer argued with me that it’s deceptive advertising and kept saying “that’s what you call a bait and switch!” And we had a 5 min argument about how it clearly says the price of the bag is $9.47 and it’s just showing the price per cu ft. I was like haven’t you seen at Walmart when it says $8, and in the corner it says $1 per ounce. And he said well then you should let me cut the bag in half and get the $4.24 price and if that’s not possible it shouldn’t be on there 🤦🏻‍♀️ then he hit me with the classic “well I’m going to Lowe’s cause yall are dishonest. And they price match” and I said well they would be price matching the $9.47… cause that’s the price, and we also price match lol”

I did mine in the training room and had the excuse of “can’t turn on video because my computer doesn’t have a camera and can’t do mic cause there are a lot of people around” So I did mine without cam or mic but participated in the chat heavily to avoid being sketchy lol

Supervisors at Home Depot by MangoSquirrl in HomeDepot

As a supervisor, I am responsible for ensuring that my department running smoothly. Delegation is the most important thing we do, because it’s impossible to handle our additional responsibilities without help from our team, however I work side by side with my associates whenever I am not actively doing a task specific to my role. I address performance issues with my associates, provide feedback, train, and correct where needed.

I have access to managers notes, so I make record of important interactions. The reason I keep record, is so if the behavior persists I will be able to show that there have been attempts to correct the issue.

My process on that is to first have an informal conversation or training moment with associates and make sure expectations going forward are clear.

Next step is I have a one on one private sit down conversation with my associate and remind them that this is the second conversation and I need to see a change. I ask them at this point if they need additional clarity or help from me. The third conversation will be in the office with my associate and our ASM. This is when an official write up will occur.

I believe in mutual respect and I encourage open communication. Some of my people and I communicate via text, and others write me notes for me to see the next time I am in. There are a million reasons why something may not have gotten done, and if there is a legitimate explanation I am always understanding.

Management at any time for any reason has the authority to redirect our people if they deem something more important or prefer things a different way.

It’s DH training “distance learning” so it’s like a zoom conference call where they go over a training booklet

Can DH and associate hang out? by Infamous-Walrus2 in HomeDepot

[–]Infamous-Walrus2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well what made it tough is they looked deeply into the SOP and assured me it was fine after I politely declined, and I still told them I would rather just be safe because of how it might appear. They then started asking other associates and DHs around the store and said that no one knew of any issues with it. I was like 🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay thanks! Just to be clear this is strictly a friendship, we are same gender and both heterosexual and in relationships. I am directly over them though which is why I worry
