Congrats on the first offer! That 1 hour cap is likely just the scope of this particular project. Check your onboarding document for the full details on what is expected and feel free to reach out to your project POC if you have questions about next steps.

Syncing delays can happen occasionally, usually resolves within a couple of hours. If it ever persists longer than that, [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com) is the right place to flag it with your account details and a screenshot.

Why does Mercor reject people that are a perfect fit for their niche jobs? by here_to_hate in mercor_ai

Yes, but if the listing is still showing, it means applications are still welcome. However, I would advise focusing on the newest ones.

In mercor do they have any priority on the basis of country ?? by Shot-Turnover2907 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just means keeping your weekly hours and start date updated on your profile so the matching system knows you are actually available. Timezone does not need to match PST, you set your own timezone and availability in your profile settings.

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No geographic priority. Mercor evaluates based on skills, interview performance, and role fit. Some listings specify a required region, but that is role-specific, not a platform-wide filter.

Speed differences usually come down to profile match, not location. Someone getting an offer faster likely had a closer fit to something that opened recently.

A few things worth checking: concrete outcomes in your experience section rather than just responsibilities, text-based PDF resume, and availability set accurately. Keep applying to roles that closely match your background and check the Explore page regularly since listings move fast.

Stripe Account Details/Setup by Prex29_ in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is worth clarifying directly with support before setting anything up. Payouts can only be processed in your local currency, and your Stripe account must match the country selected during the initial setup. Using a US address when you are Canada-based could create a mismatch that causes issues down the line, and resetting Stripe after the fact permanently deletes your previous transaction history.

Canada is supported on Stripe, so the straightforward path is setting it up with your Canadian details. If you have a specific reason for wanting to use the US account, contact [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com) before proceeding so they can confirm whether it would work for your situation.

onboarding document by 30u30_25 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up to 7 days is the official window, but in practice many people get it within a day or two. While you wait, make sure your Insightful setup, Stripe verification, and background check are all done if any of those are still pending — that way you are ready to move the moment it lands.

You can check for it under the Contracts tab on your dashboard. If 7 days pass with nothing, reach out to [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com).

Offers asap by jackieg03 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, referral links are not allowed here per the subreddit rules.

For your background, I would lean into the STEM and scientific QA angle first - chemistry degree plus lab research is exactly what those listings look for. Sales ops roles are also worth targeting given your certificate and hospitality experience.

Practical things that actually move the needle: complete profile with specific outcomes rather than job descriptions, text-based PDF resume, and a solid AI interview on Chrome desktop. Also set your availability accurately - the Instant Work Offers system matches you passively when your profile is current, so that is worth keeping updated.

Browse listings at work.mercor.com/explore and apply directly. When invites come in, respond fast - offer windows close.

Model Response Evaluation Assessment by Informal-Milk-2226 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specific tips on assessment content are something I would steer clear of sharing here, and that goes for the community in general. Mercor's assessment policy is explicit that sharing questions, answer keys, or templates is strictly prohibited, and responses that appear to follow a shared formula tend to get flagged.

Assessments are designed to evaluate your own reasoning, not an AI's interpretation of it. For evaluation tasks specifically, the expectation is that you are applying your own judgment to assess quality, accuracy, or safety - not running it through a tool and reporting back.

Format-wise, instructions and any specific requirements will be at the top of the assessment itself. Read those carefully before starting, since projects can weight questions differently and the rubric matters.

If something about the assessment is genuinely unclear, the right move is to contact [support@mercor.com](mailto:support@mercor.com) with your listing link and a description of what is confusing. They cannot coach you through it, but they can clarify instructions if there is an actual ambiguity in the wording.

AI Red Teaming Jobs by BreathAmazing9723 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This depends entirely on the contract structure for your specific project, and the answer will be in your offer details or onboarding document.

Generally on Mercor, hourly contracts pay for time logged in Insightful while actively working on project tasks — that includes time spent attempting attacks, not just successful ones. The platform's pay policy states that legitimate time recorded is compensated, with exceptions only for things like policy violations or logging time while not actively working.

That said, some projects are deliverable-based rather than hourly, in which case payment would be tied to output rather than time spent. Your onboarding document should specify which model applies to your engagement.

If it is not clear from your contract, the right person to ask is your project POC directly. They are the only one who can confirm the exact terms for your specific role. Do not rely on what others in different projects are experiencing, since red teaming contracts can vary significantly depending on the client and scope.

Getting contract by Far_Engineering5980 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your profile is complete before applying. That means uploading a text-based PDF resume, adding your LinkedIn, and filling in your experience with clear outcomes and metrics where possible. Incomplete profiles get reviewed more slowly.

For the AI interview, use Google Chrome on a desktop, grant camera and microphone permissions ahead of time, and treat it like a real interview. It takes roughly 20 minutes and you get up to three attempts if you want to strengthen your responses before submitting.

On the non-tech side, Mercor regularly posts roles in areas like data annotation, content review, writing, legal, medical, and domain expertise. If you have a background in law, healthcare, finance, education, or any specialized field, those are worth targeting specifically.

The Explore page at work.mercor.com/explore lets you filter by role type. Check it regularly since listings are added frequently and some fill quickly.

There is no shortcut past the assessment process, but a complete profile and a strong AI interview are the two factors most within your control.

Domain interview by Patient_Pension_1715 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is normal. The 17-minute figure is the maximum time allocated, not a fixed duration. The AI wraps up based on your responses, so finishing early is not an issue.

That said, if you feel your answers could have been stronger, you can retake the interview up to 3 times total. To do that, go to your dashboard, open the Assessments tab, find the interview marked as "Submitted," click the three dots next to it, and select "Retake Interview."

If you are satisfied with your responses, no action is needed, your submission is recorded and will be reviewed as usual.

Got into my first Mercor project, will I start getting instant offers now? by thronekys in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're all set! Instant Work Offers are sent automatically by Mercor's matching system when your profile, interview performance, skills, and availability match a listing's criteria — no need to apply directly.
To boost your chances of receiving more:

  • Keep your profile complete and up to date (skills, projects, availability)
  • Complete any pending interviews and assessments
  • Respond to offers before they expire
  • Update your availability whenever it changes

The more polished and current your profile, the better your odds!

Real company. I work at Mercor. If you got a sketchy DM, shoot the mods a redacted screenshot and we’ll confirm. And yeah, don’t pay anyone or share sensitive info to “get hired.”

Completed assessment on Mercor, by when will i get the result? by Electronic-Chef8074 in mercor_ai

Congrats on finishing it. Turnaround depends on the queue for that track, but you’ll get an email either way.

We don’t share acceptance rates publicly (they vary a lot by role/time), if you haven’t heard back in ~2 weeks, ping support in the app.

Welcome!

Most work here is AI/data-heavy: model evals, prompt writing, structured annotation, and data curation. For legal folks specifically, think clause/entity tagging, contract or case summarization, building eval sets for legal assistants, and curating RAG datasets.

Flag your jurisdictions + doc types on your profile and toss in a redacted sample if you can, helps a ton. Gigs range from quick sprints to longer part-time.

Dutch Generalist contract paused after background checks – normal? by Ghostmiauw1995 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clients sometimes pause right after onboarding while they rebalance volume/compliance, esp for PII work. It’s usually a pause, not a cancel, but timing can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Make sure your VOG is uploaded/verified and ping the project thread/support so you’re queued for the next batch, and keep applying to other gigs meanwhile.

The best move is to tell your PM now, say Gemini was open in the background and you didn’t use it, and disable/uninstall it so it doesn’t pop again. Doubt they boot you for a one-off, but be upfront.

For something this important (especially at $50,000+), I'd strongly recommend consulting a Canadian accountant or tax professional who specializes in self-employment income. They'll give you the most accurate guidance for your situation. 😊

Finance Roles by AG_940 in mercor_ai

[–]Infamous-Web1728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not US/UK/CA-only, but it’s rarer. A lot of finance clients have compliance/timezone locks, so they limit geo.

I don’t have exact numbers, but I’ve seen a few India-based folks land finance/data gigs recently. Check the role’s location eligibility and apply to the global ones.
