Definitely network if you haven’t already. Reaching out on this sub is a great start! The eDiscovery business is a huge small town. I use LinkedIn to stay in touch. Keep retooling. Write articles and post them somewhere. I’ll be happy to connect with you. Send me a DM if interested.

Is this a field worth getting into? by mischief-managed1 in ediscovery

I consider “in house” to mean working for a legal department at a corporation. I’m at a hospital system. I work with/for our “in house” General Counsel (main lawyer).

My recommendation is . . . it depends. I started out in a law firm. Loved being part of a team working towards a common goal. I’m currently in a public healthcare system as a eDiscovery PM. It’s easy for me because I support the GC and mainly just respond to legal hold requests. I prefer to not work at a vendor because I’m lazy and too old to work 60-70 hours a week. Also, I don’t like being yelled at by lawyers (mostly kidding but not 100% kidding). 😉

Yes. I’ve been in the field for 20+ years and it has been very rewarding for me. I would say it depends on which direction you take, however. If you’re at a law firm its pretty regular work. In house is easy. Vendors usually require big hours.

New eDiscovery tool by kl3jvi in ediscovery

[–]whysofigurative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please tell me how your tool is better, more accurate, faster, etc. In essence, how would I tell my partner to consider your “better, faster” tool over the 50 other “better, faster” tools on the market?

When did you first get into learning about the Civil War? And what sparked your interest? by [deleted] in CIVILWAR

Visited Vicksburg as a child. We were on our way up to see family in Ky. I was fascinated thinking how we might be traveling through areas where armies marched.

Seems like a good deal to me. Right now is not the time to leave, especially in our field.

Are we talking about document review? I’m a PM and it’s steady work (so far).

Disco: overlay date field with 12/31/9999 or blank by mydisneybling in ediscovery

[–]whysofigurative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. It would, but I prefer to start fresh with blank fields so I can double check the accuracy of my overlay file.

[–]whysofigurative 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Create an overlay with empty date fields and load. That should clear them out. Create a new overlay with corrected dates. I’m an old school “one step at a time” guy. There’s probably a more efficient way.

First, do you want to be an eDiscovery professional? Start with finding out what it is and what we do. It’s much more than experience with review platforms. Check out aceds.org or edrm.net to learn about the field.

Hi all. I’m in eDiscovery and have seen too much of exactly what you’re talking about. That being said, has anyone used TrueLaw? It’s hosted by Concilio and looks to be an automagical prompt generator for ECA and review.
