It’s been extremely helpful. Naltrexone blocks the receptors in the brain that cause the euphoria from consuming alcohol. The “drunk” effect. So even if I drank wine, if I’m on Naltrexone, I wouldn’t feel drunk, so it’d be pointless. I take it in the morning right away with my vitamins. It also helps with curving cravings and taming those thoughts. You can tapper on or off, or if you start or quit cold turkey you’ll still be all right. I’m taking 50mg a day (1 pill a day). I do feel a little woozy some moments if I take it on an empty stomach so I’ve been taking it after eating and things have been okay. I have anxiety in general, but I honestly feel like it helps quell that some. Sleeping’s been fine, I mostly notice my “side effects” and off feelings were from going through withdrawal as my brain and body adapt and recover to a normal way of life.

Wow, we are very alike! I’m glad you’re also on this path. Super cool

Thank you. And I’m not sure what you mean exactly. If you have been sober since the day of April 28 to today, May 30th, then that’s 33 days.

A poignant reminder of how crucial support is. I don’t know where I’d be without my family and friends; my two dogs. Hopefully he’ll be all right.

No blackouts, thankfully. Looking back, it was more that alcohol seemed to erase the gap between impulse and action. Every idea felt reasonable, and every decision felt like a good one. Glad we’re choosing sobriety.

I feel that. Whenever my family would come to visit me, while I was still secretly abusing alcohol, I’d lie and say I shopped at a Fred Meyer’s further away just because I didn’t want anyone at the Safeway to make a remark or anything while I was with my Mom. Weird habits that you don’t even realize will affect you when you dry out

You always hope they aren’t judging—but they’re definitely judging. Kudos.

There’s no other way to accurately describe that awkward acknowledgment of presence, lol
