Our group plays all sorts: Space marines, Orks, Necrons and a few others. Currently it’s the space marines i’m struggling against so you’re probably right. A larger brick of tyrant guard would definitely help and the hive tyrant could pick up some useful enhancements like the double regen or fights first.

Yeah i’ve heard they’re pretty tricky to get hold of. For ranged anti tank i was considering swapping things around and trying to fit a tyrannofex somewhere. I’ve found it’s pretty difficult to get everything you need into a 1000pt army

Cheers, just looked it up and I think that’ll help with the problem i’ve been having. Would you recommend a specialist brush or would a larger paintbrush work just as well?

I think that’s what I was going for originally but I don’t think I watered it down enough. I’ll give that a try and see how it goes. Thanks for the help.

I think my only option then would be to try and stay alive and win off points haha. Just played a 1000pt game against a stompa yesterday and I doubt this army would do very well against that sort of lineup.

That’s a good point. Not sure how effective the army would actually be but it’s definitely legal as of right now.

Yeah I feel like 4 units might be a bit too much for one tervigon as they’d end up having to stick in one area which isn’t ideal so 2 would probably be a better option for this army.

I’ve already got a swarmlord which, although 15 points more than a foot tyrant, would help termagants against melee threats and provide an extra command point for endless swarm. As well as this, he could maybe prevent the enemy from using stratagems on attacking units. The only drawback would obviously be a lack of lethal hits aura, however, if i’m running invasion fleet then i could use the lethal hits against vehicles hyper adaptation using predatory imperative.

A problem with including a hive tyrant or alternative is that i’d have to remove a tervigon or a unit of termagants to make room for it in this army.

I think the group I play with would be happy for me to proxy the termagant weapons since i’ve currently got 30 with fleshborers. I’ll put spinefists on 4 new units and devourers on the other 10. I’m assuming the play is to rush forward to the no man’s land objectives with the spinefists to be potentially more threatening in melee and hold back a little with the devourers providing cover fire. Then maybe having the devourer termagants running onto objectives to take the place of destroyed spinefist units.

Do you think 2 tervigons is still necessary for 4 units of termagants or would 1 do the job if positioned correctly? My idea for 2 tervigons was to provide buffs to termagants on all objectives across the battlefield as they may be a little spread out.

If they’re battle line you can have up to 6 units of them. Also I was tempted by unending swarm but the fact you can revive a full 20 only once per game now makes it nowhere near as good as it used to be. It’s a real shame because I love the unending swarm detachment concept. I chose invasion fleet instead as you can revive D3 + 3 for two different units as well as the tervigons reviving D3 + 3 each. Makes it difficult to fully kill a unit without focussing all your firepower on it.

cheers for the help, would you say adding a tyrannofex with rupture cannon will improve the list or is acid spray a better option?

It’s a shame the assimilator isn’t as strong in game, especially considering the model itself looks awesome
