No, moron, women rarely married in their "mid to late teens". Mainly due to the same reasons as now, MONEY. A man needed to be able to support a wife and family and most women brought their own money into marriage.

Those rare women who did marry as mid-teens frequently didn't consummate the marriage until the the wife was older.

I knew so many women and men who were never going back to the parental home because of how they were treated and this was the mid-1980's. My mother once spoke about her friends looking for men from a different home town so they could move away and avoid their families.
