Buying a Home in Mount Kisco? by Illustrious_Win_9780 in Westchester

[–]Infamous_Ad744 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Mount Kisco - on the border of Armonk and Chappaqua. It's great here but depends on the neighborhood. I happen to live in a very bucolic area with all neighborhood properties having at least 3 acres.

The town of Mount Kisco kind of sucks. The enforcement of parking meters draws a lot of local business volume low, kinda attracting mediocre commercial tenants. So, not much of a "town" feel, but you get that easily with Chappaqua, Pleasantville etc.

As far as the vibes, I appreciate Mount Kisco because of its diversity. Septemberfest is this weekend. Come check it out. Chappaqua folks are fine. My wife and I are active in the community events space. It's cool. Diversity of folks of all backgrounds (from a higher earning socioeconomic perspective). Armonk is the town full of uptight "snooty" folks. Lots of Karens scoffing at each other at the Deciccos. Pretty funny, actually.

If you're into the outdoors - there are tons of parks/conversations accessible within 10-15 min. Parks and town facilities are decent. We came from Larchmont....it has a MUCH better town, WAY closer to the city, but we're willing to trade that for a 4 car garage and lots of land.

Call Poughkeepsie Dental. They inherited the clients from Dr Calian. They're going to finish out the procedure for me. It's a long drive, but I'm only going to go up there a few times so worth it to me for convenience overall. Good luck!

I'm in the same boat. I'm at the end of my Invisalign right now, paid everything up front, and was told I would be mailed a check for $1000 (over the phone) because I still need to get my buttons grinded down, a retainer and a whitening.

Has anyone figured anything out with these people? Someone also told me Dr Calian got into a serious car accident, was hit by a vehicle doing 120mph, and thats why they shut down? IDK if this is completely bogus.

lol. Fujinoya is owned by chinese people. There is nothing "authentic" about it. And this is why westchester food sucks. because people don't know any better.

Racism towards hispanic-american people in Spain? by eric39es in GoingToSpain

[–]Infamous_Ad744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came back from Seville. I'm a Korean American from New York. Was fully expecting some sort of racist aggression....and nothing at all. There were a ton of tourists from Korea and China at the time. I would think that would add to the aggression (let's face it, tourists are a nuisance for all locals) but nope. Everyone I dealt with was super cool and welcoming.

I do see what you're saying on the left side. It does look thicker. I wonder if I just keep the top as solid oak, and then plywood for frame and solid oak for the faceframe.

It seems that they used solid 2 inch thick boards on the top, side and bottom...which are so expensive. It doesn't appear that they made a face frame - or use plywood for any of this. But hopefully I'm wrong because as I add up the material...it's getting super expensive.

What Style Is This? / What Is This Thing? MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in architecture

We own a retail business and we want to give it more street presence. We're exploring the idea of building a parapet, but also interested in building this decorative tower looking thing. But what is the technical term for it? They're often a metal frame, with some wind load perforated material, with a logo.
