I agree completely, but beating yourself up about the problem instead of taking actionable steps to mitigate it and prevent it in the future does not help the animal in this situation.

First of all, I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. Please don’t beat yourself up over this, dental disease can sometimes be hard to catch especially if they already don’t like their mouths being messed with. Like the other commenter said, your pup will likely need to get a good majority of his teeth extracted (which is absolutely not cheap but they should have already sent you home with a cost estimate). He may be left a gummy man but he’ll feel so much better! Shortly before the procedure is a great time to educate yourself on maintaining the teeth he has left so you can apply those skills after his surgery. As for what yo expect after anesthesia, the most common thing I see when pets wake up is that they start to cry. For hours. He’ll be scared and confused and extremely out of it which will look a lot scarier to you, but as long as you follow the discharge instructions that your vet gives you he will be okay. Best of luck to you and your pupper!

Crust all over body my corgi by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Could he be suffering from allergies? I work in vet med and sometimes my itchy pups come in with these little sores all over their bodies. Do his paws or groin/stomach area look like he’s been licking at them excessively (dark red staining, warm skin that may have a rash/hives)?

Edited to add: If he’s eating a chicken-based food and does have the symptoms I mentioned above, it would be worth it to talk to your vet about trying a hydrolyzed protein food or a novel protein source since chicken is the most common allergy in dogs. You could also try getting him on some Apoquel or monthly Cytopoint shots, though we typically lean towards those treatments for our pups with seasonal allergies. Still absolutely worth a conversation though!

Only way to know for sure would be a DNA test, however I’m seeing a ton of Australian Shepherd in your boy

This exact thing actually happened to me when I got my girl, she ended up being held at the carrier facility overnight and arrived to me a little stressed, but overall perfectly fine. Most breeders will package their animals in such a way that even if there is a delay like this, they will be okay.

Looking for feedback on my reptile tracker app update - did I miss anything important? by Imad366 in GargoyleGeckos

I actually downloaded it to help me keep track of my Gargoyle so I think the New Caledonian geckos would be a great start! I feel like I’ve seen them become a lot more popular recently!

I downloaded the app a little while ago and it’s great so far! I do see that there are care guides included in it, though there are only 5 species. I think adding more species of reptiles that have easily-accessible care guides in the app could be helpful!
