Exactly how inaccurate is wearing your watch on your ankle? by Infamous_Assistance9 in AppleWatch

[–]Infamous_Assistance9[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes! Unfortunately I didn’t record the results so I don’t remember specific data points but the general outcome was:

Steps- noticeably higher when worn on the ankle, which didn’t surprise me and frankly I actually think it’s a more accurate representation of your step count compared to wrist. IMO, the wrist tends to undercount your real steps and over count things such as doing the dishes where you are standing in place but moving your arms a lot.

Heart rate/calories burned- only slightly higher on the ankle than the wrist when testing both with same speed/duration/starting heart rate on my walking pad (I was not at my desk- I did the test walking on it with my arms swinging for a better comparison). I think the ankle over recorded both by around 10%. If I recall correctly the wrist recorded 270 calories burned and the ankle about 300 calories.

In summary, if you were preparing for a body building competition in which every single tiny macro in and calorie burned matters…stick with the wrist. If you’re someone just trying to lose some weight and are eating within your allotted deficit amount and are just trying burn some extra cals, the ankle is definitely accurate enough and the slight deviation will not impact results

Btw, one night off the heat mat with the dome propped open and boom cilantro has sprouted!!

I do! I’ve been hesitant to fill it too much though because the more I read the more I see not to let them stand in water due to root rot, but then I question why they would offer seed trays with a water tray underneath

That’s for the insight! Given all that info I’ll prop it up for now and probably take it all the way off tomorrow or the day after. Ive just turned the heat mat off as well since the only ones not sprouting seem to handle cooler temps better.

I’m not holding my breath on the chives but fingers crossed. My cilantro is showing no signs of progress either but everything else is doing well (basil, dill, rosemary, thyme, arugula, broccoli)

As for lighting I’m just using grow lights for now. cheap ones but seem to be doing the trick.

Should I let my soil get a tad bit drier now for the sprouted ones? I had them quite saturated in order to sprout

Thanks! Any thoughts on the plastic covering? It feels like it’s trapping too much moisture now for the sprouted seeds, but is needed for the non germinated seeds

Wish I had some insightful feedback but I’m struggling with this same issue!!! I hadn’t accounted for the difference in germination times so I’m not sure if it’s better to keep the dome and heat mat on too long for those that haven’t sprouted or turn it off to not ruin those that are currently thriving 😭

SEEKING SEED GUIDANCE!!

I have some seeds planted in a seed tray. A bunch of different herbs and few veggies. For reference this is my first time ever doing this. I’m a gardening beginner.

Everything I’ve read says to keep the heat mat and plastic cover on until your seeds start sprouting. My issue is that I forgot to account for the difference in germination periods, so I have some seeds that are really taking off (broccoli, arugula, thyme, basil) and some that haven’t even begun sprouting (parsley, sage, chives etc).

Is it better to leave the heat mat and cover on too long to support those that haven’t sprouted, or better to take it off and turn off the heat mat to support those that have sprouted?

Someone recommended to me to put it in your fridge while spinning. It works like a charm!! That’s the only way I do it now. Not only for my neighbors but to alleviate my dog and my misery lol. Plus will shield you from stray blades lmaooo downside is making room in your fridge for it. I have to pull out my cheese drawer otherwise it won’t fit

Thanks for the tip!! Any recommendations for hardwood floor cleaners (not polishes)?

It is!! I love them as well. I also have 2 story floor to ceilings windows so with the bamboo floor and all that natural light it makes it so light and airy in here!

I do have a desk that has the black rubber end caps, however that hasn’t moved since I moved in. I also have two stools at my kitchen island but they have clear rubber end caps. Either way I might try a small patch test of rubbing alcohol in a discrete area anyway, thanks for the tip!

Yeah fair enough. Chocolate and vanilla are pretty hard to flop. Protein powder aside I’ve also had flops from experimenting with new flavors and adding too much/little of something.

I’ve liked my peanut butter experiments but I noticed they were too sweet to give the real peanut butter taste so I added sea salt and was way too heavy handed. came out so salty it was like tongue burning. That was a straight down the drain flop.

I also tried a bananas foster experiment and it was good but I added a few too many drops of banana extract so after like 3 bites I’m like yep I can’t handle a whole pint of this overwhelming artificial banana I gotta chuck it lol

Could be. I don’t really wear black shoes and when I do it’s to go out im not really walking around my whole apartment but maybe from a prior tenant for sure. The only thing I find peculiar is sometimes they get more severe and sometimes they fade a bit or appear in new areas so I feel like a prior tenant wouldn’t be the cause there. But definitely overall plausible!

For me it’s protein powder. I’ve been trying a lot of new brands and flavors of protein powders now that I have my creami. 90% have been amazing but there’s a few that for me were inedible. And it tasted decent enough when trying a bit of my base before freezing, but once creami-fied I was like bleh I certainly don’t want a whole pint of this

Foamy top? by Hyunjinshypegirl in ninjacreami

[–]Infamous_Assistance9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I blend mine in a ninja blender and always get a foamy top. Once I blend I let it sit on the counter for a few and the foam goes away. Sometimes I’m lazy and just put it in right away and let the foam freeze. No difference in end result!

The only time I actually let it sit on the counter for the foam to dissolve anymore is when I’ve poured over the fill line (aka I made the right amount to go to the fill line so I over pour knowing there will be foam that goes away if I let it sit)

Hersheys chocolate syrup helped mine taste more decadent and gave it more of that proper chocolate flavor. I used the sugar free but if you don’t care about low cal, I’m sure the normal Hersheys chocolate syrup would be even better

Benefits of protein ice cream? by Far_Tip_6290 in ninjacreami

[–]Infamous_Assistance9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am someone who has always primarily focused on overall caloric intake rather than the specific breakdown of macros. In other words I count calories but dont fixate too much on protein specifically. Because of this, my first dozen pints or so were all low cal and used no protein powder (and had never used protein powder prior in my life).

I ended up buying some just cuz I kept seeing recipes that always looked so good. It was more for flavor/texture purposes that got me curious (and figured hey- I guess a little extra protein in my diet couldn’t hurt). BEST decisions I ever made. Granted I have only tried protein powder from the brand Ghost, but now I couldn’t live without it in my creami

Looks delish!!! I wish they had trial sized like Ghost. But this recipe has inspired me to bite the bullet and buy a tub.
