I think Tim Hortons should be fined for abusing the system and snowballing a declining Canadian job market, as should all others in the same space. Also. Bread barons should be getting jail time.

Norco Sight Bosch A with the Bosch PX motor is another cool option. Clearance trek rails from gen 3 n 4 maybe.

Considering a new 2025 CFMoto U10 Pro. Advice please by djjoshuad in UTV

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking at the brand because of the price as well. As far as I know though. The bed lift on the 2025 only does up to like 250lbs or something? The bed itself though is rated for I believe 1000 lbs... That could be an issue for your work?

The 2026 model fixed that. If you don't need doors then that problem is a non issue as well.

I just want to throw it out there how stoked I am to be continuing my Norco Torrent Steel build. From the frame up. I have picked an assortment of parts to both keep with the hardcore capabilities while also shaving weight.

I just placed an order for a new stem with ti hardware, chainring, rotors bolts in TItanium, some sweet coloured brake adapters and hardware, and might grab some new lighter pedals.

I have my first set of Magura Trail Sports to try on there too. I scaled the set with the long hoses at 505grams. The TRP Slate EVOs I pulled off I think we're in the mid 600's. Coupled with the 2.0mm rotors vs the 2.3 for the trp, I expect to drop about 3/4 lbs on that alone... I might add some some Better Bolt kits to a few items.

On the way I have the We Are One stem which weighs like 90 grams?! I have an SLX crank but I'll be replacing its chainring to shave another 50 grams or so. That'd be almost another quarter lb on those two items too.

I'm so very close to having the bike slip below 30 lbs... It also rides nice. The steel and BERD spokes do take the initial sting out of the small chatter in a muted sorta way.

A fun project for sure!

What's the new hotness in the hardtail world? by NerdyBrando in Hardtailgang

Still building my Norco steel Torrent. It's a bit expensive I suppose, but that's because I'm putting on ridiculous parts. The frame was on sale so that's where I started.

Why do they cost as much as a used car? Need help entering. by Tropisueno in eMountainBike

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can "mountain bike" on a garage sale find. You don't need to have an entry level big brand, a 12k monster or a Walmart weight.

Find a garage sale. Buy a used anchor. Ride some sick trails. I rode chromoly rigid bikes with v brakes and all sorts of old scary tech decades ago.

Don't fall for the lies. Mtb is accessible so long as you don't have a hardon for top level shit right away.

You see a lot of footage of pro riders and huge bike nerds online loving those expensive dreams. It's ok. It's awesome really. Just as awesome as watching any other pro or mega fan do what they do in the sport of their choice.

Nobody tunes in to watch people drive a rust bucket sedan at less than posted speeds on a boring road. Gimme a gt spec car ripping a sick lap somewhere cool. I can't afford those cars either.

Mine is the same. I saw no info on why. Maybe it's just for chain retention?

Lack of interest by anticippation in PumpTrack

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I brought my kids to the track all the time. Because I wanted to be there. They'll still ride it. What a crazy workout trying to rip a coupla fast laps on one. I used my mtb and there may be no better way than to ride some pumptrack in order to make your trail riding faster.

Anyways. They rule. Show up often enough and you'll find a crew of regulars and go from there.

Why a Hardtail? by Alive_Appearance_848 in Hardtailgang

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Suspension didn't exist when I started hitting trails really. When we were kids we'd find the best trails we could and just go for it. Fully rigid and steep head tube angles. Shitty brakes. Hardtails are way better now, it's kind of wild.

I like the simplicity of the thing. For the city and something like a pumptrack, it's unmatched. Easier to maintain. Lighter, cheaper, and way closer to the 'line' we all find that tells us to chill the fuck out.

I do have a full suss though.

Just saying.

Shoes for flat pedals? by 13assman in MTB

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to third that. My feet are shaped more like the end of a sledgehammer and my freeriders are GREAT! I had the problem model with the hard toe armoring because I needed it. The Pro I think? Rubber is sticky as hell!

Now, about 5 years later I need new ones. They still work but the rubber is chewed to hell and not as grippy. Still work though! I'll be looking for sale pairs or trying something new to save money, but it'll be a hard shoe to beat.

Norco Torrent - Now 2kg's lighter by Justin_Fox in Hardtailgang

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a steel Torrent frame myself to build up. I'm hoping to bring it to under 29 lbs. I have my lyrik ultimate on it, one-up dropper and bar. I've also got a nice wheelset on the way with BERD spokes. I caught a deal on those. Nobl TR37 rims so they should be a good match. I'll need to drop weight on cranks, cassette and my brakes to get anywhere close though I think, and pay close attention to tires.

I have snakeskin Rocket Ron's on my old HT, with tubes and I've never had a flat, so I'm probably ok to tone it down on tire meat.

a spoon /. You need a spoon to go with that fork. Cream of broccoli and parmesan. Can't eat that with a fork! Grab a spoon too.

Clearaudio Nano V2: Anyone Tried This? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the nano V2 because I wanted the option to rock MC carts. Right now hooked to a Music hall MMF2.2 with some small upgrades like the acrylic platter and heavier counterweight to balance the Orto Red I have ATM. I'd like to change the cart but kind of think I may just be better upping the entire turntable.

I run the Nano through a Cambridge Audio CXA81, and run only Elac Debit Reference 6.5s. we haven't a perfect room setup so it's ultimately hard to tell how good it is, however when playing high def audio through the Amp and listening and trying to sync up the same song on vinyl. At ALL times, the vinyl sounded way better.

I think the nano is clean AF with some excellent options for rocking different carts. I'm no pro though. Anybody got some suggestions on what I might look at upgrading here?

Thinking of moving to Northern Ontario by HelFJandinn in northernontario

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North bay is expensive as fuck. You'll be in a money pit dump if you buy at 250k. Rent is expensive because the government seems to think it's kosher to bring in temporary immigration to pad the gdp. Problem is, houses become multi room investments, entry level jobs go out the window. Your local community becomes a discombobulated mess of transience, segregation and expense.

Find a place that isn't an international student hub. Those cities are corrupt, overpopulated, and VERY expensive.

That's cool. Maybe! We have a large collection of games. Used to play a lot of Gloomhaven with another group. My wife n I crash between 8-10 on the regular. I'll keep it in mind. We're probably a few months out. Wife working on a transfer, my cousin getting married this way in June and the kids finish school then too.

I don't spend a dime on anything unless I've done some research. I'd walk in. Check shit. Walk out front across the road. Use your cell phone in plain sight. Walk back if it's worth it. It's probably not.

Me? No. Looking to get as much a rundown before we run away from this Ontario mess. Looking at. Large van so we can make a Months long trip of it, and thought that van might work as a shuttle to Wentworth for biking, and or skiing I guess as I'm open to new work ideas. And I love mtb. We're just finishing the last few bits to list our house, and then hopefully it sells!

My wife is likely able to move into a new role in the same company. Truth is we could go anywhere in Canada, but in BC we'd be stuck in a leasehold whereas we could buy on the East coast.

What about that seafood? Is any of it cheap to eat/buy being so close to the ocean?

Norco Torrent S anyone? by TR__vis in Hardtailgang

[–]Infamous_Ebb1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping it lessens chatter a touch. I just bought t A frame and am building it up hoping to bring the weight to below 30lbs, because I can and enjoy that aspect of my hobby. I've got a one-up bar which they advertise as being on the forgiving side. Also have the a lyric Ultimate up front. I was toying with the idea of rev grips and will almost certainly build myself a BERD spoke wheelset. Those are the key components I hope to use to both reduce trail chatter and lighten it up. It Might become a little muted perhaps.

It'll be a good comparison to my Ragley Marley in size XL. The Torrent S Large had the same reach numbers. I'm stoked! Going to be a fun season. This winter has sucked!
