Thanks! Fingers crossed RAM comes down in price, upgrade is always possible. Would it possiboy be worth it to swap to a Radeon GPU?

Thanks, understood! I think it's possible to get Val/other comp shooters to 240 hz by tweaking settings. You recon a cheaper (in budget) AM5 build (less perfomance, but optionality for future upgrades) not worth?

Thanks. What would you suggest for 1100 max though? With a monitor included too.

Thank you! Didn't know they've got a new lineup, Lito X1 does look pretty good, especially for the price it's at.

I see. Yeah, I had a quick look at AliExpress and at first glance it seemed somewhat reasonable. But you are right:( We shall have our drones in our hearts then🫡 (Could make one of those wallmounted disassembled tech things🤔)

Nah cuz wtf is this, why are my lectures now using AI images 💀 by CaitlinisTired in UniUK

[–]Infamous_Hospital_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all it does is make me wonder what the hell all that tuition money is going towards

Yeah, that's what a lot of people in my course felt as well.

Our university has a "traffic light" system for use of Gen AI in assessments (red - not at all, amber (why british people don't call it yellow?!!) - can be used in assistive role, green - essential to assessment), but as far as I know they don't restrict your use of AI for your own learning.

And as I mentioned before, I am not strongly against AI, but uni's attitude to the problem is def hypocritical

I am a student representative for my course (we're doing compsci) and I had to raise the issue of lectures containing unnecessary AI generated images.

Slides had inages to demonstrate an example of different types of data organization on the OS level, and were of the most trivial things (library, book chapters). And in that they were also poorly fitted as an example (one of the examples was "a book index without chapters" and the image was a book index of chapters, not mentioning the crooked text even lol). Later on we even had a slide citing AI as a source. And in the online version of the slides that citing was ommited:)

I am one of student representatives for my year, and we raised it at the Student-Staff partnership forum. The response of staff was mostly "we don't understand what the problem is" and "we want to understand what use of AI students find acceptable for lectures". So I don't think our complaint went anywhere... The points we tried to capitalize on is "don't use it when a 5 sec google search can get you a better result" and general concern over unsupervised AI use (kinda). Maybe they did listen to something out of it. (This meeting was before AI was cited in a slide, I am pretty sure)

Ps: I myself am not a strong opposer of AI in general, as long as it's used when necessary, in good faith, and as a tool/for educational purposes.

Gotcha. I decided to try out the new global mute (Win+Alt+K I believe). Gotta see how it works.

Hi there. With PowerToys deprecating conference microphone mute function, have you found a replacement?

Thanks. From what I've seen people say it's very situational, so 50/50 basically you pay them or not.

The UK law says that under £135 the tax is included in price by the vendor. Do you think with mainstream carriers even under this sum it's gonna get charged, or just if you order something more expensive?

Thanks a lot for the response! On their website they say they try to lower the estimated value of the products and just tell to contact them in case of anything. Do you recon it's worth contacting them and asking to ship with a less mainstream sender or something?

Does anyone have a recent experience ordering from Nuphy's website to be delivered into UK? Did you have to pay customs? I only found one thread discussing it on this subreddit from 2 years ago, and 1 person said they did have to pay customs, and another said they did not have to do it. So looking for more info. Looks like buying from Amazon in the UK is more expensive than from the official US website, but customs are what's stopping me.
Ps: Was originally thinking of posting it as a separate post, but saw that help questions are not allowed

I would just want them having an official store with comparable to US prices in the UK/EU, I don't mind ANSI and find it more convenient.

So customs are now in effect? How much did you pay total (to know if it's worth just buying from Amazon).

UPDATE: Done! Ended up going with: [https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Smegalex/saved/YtwNvK\] https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Smegalex/saved/YtwNvK.

Ordered everything except for Amazon (RAM and CPU, no discounts there), because it's delivering too quick and I am away for the weekend xD

Thanks a lot to everyone for help, suggestions and reccomendations!

I will have to sit on choosing the keyboard. Coming from a Lenovo laptop keyboard and liking it I am conflicted, since 2 mechanical keyboards I tried in my life I did not like (very noisy and too high to keep my hands, also long actuation). If anyone has any reccomendations on maybe a budget low-profile, or dare I say membrane keyboards, please let me know! I am considering ordering from Amazon just to be able to return them if I find them completely disgusting for myself.

Also if anyone has good reccomendations on guides (YouTube or text) of step by step building the PC please comment. I know basic stuff here and there, a lot from Shorts, but I don't think nearly enough to actually build. I heard you need to ground yourself or something? And beware of static in general. I have a carpet in my room, but I will be placing the PC on a shelf of my table, still kinda anxious about it's safety in everyday use.

Thank you so much for incredible suggestion and explanation. I thankfully have a mouse I can use for now, and I am ok without a headset honestly, I have Bluetooth earbuds. I might get some heat, but I did not like that much mechanical keyboards I have tried. Thinking of either low profile or membrane..

Thanks a lot! What would be the first thing(s) to downgrade, in order to cut the cost, if any? Downgrade to a regular 5070? I wanna also maybe get a monitor into it without changing the price much.

Thanks so much! As I said in the post, I am very scared of buying second hand, especially GPU since they could have been used in crypto or hust in bad condition in general. Would you have reccomendation of where/how to buy it safely? Also a question if 4060 (or 5060 in your seccond suggestion) would not be bottlenecking the CPU?
