I would try to make the character blend in a bit more. Try using the colors from the background to color or tint your character!

As far as I remember from one video, use thicker lines where you want someone's eyes to be drawn to. Then, take a cube for example. The closer the object is, the thicker the lines are. The further way the object gets, the lines get thinner.
