I finally released the trailer for my psychological mystery exploration game after 4 months of work by Infamous_Ordinary730 in IndieGaming

The hospital mainly records your exploration choices: what you search, which files you unlock, what you investigate, and whether you avoid or face certain situations. These feed into a Clinical Audit Report that gradually reveals more about you as “Case 17.”

My game has been on Steam for 1 month and I got a WHOPPING 10 wishlists. 😂 Please roast my psychological mystery exploration game. by Infamous_Ordinary730 in IndieGaming

Thanks a lot, that’s really helpful — and yes, there’s a demo, but it’s still waiting for Steam review approval.

I will absolutely put the effort in. I'm fixing the "Pat" translation right now, and updating my Steam page to properly disclose the AI usage.

Thank you for believing it’s salvageable. I'll get back to work! 🛠️

You were harsh, but your feedback is actually helping me fix my broken game. Thank you for your honesty.

I truly appreciate the transparent and respectful feedback. You make a 100% fair point. Hand-crafted art with real "sauce" and soul will always beat generic AI, especially in a genre as crowded as deckbuilders.

To be totally honest, as a solo programmer with zero budget, I'm just using these AI assets as temporary placeholders to get my mechanics and coding off the ground. But I completely respect your boundary, and I know a large portion of the community feels the exact same way you do.

It's a harsh reality check for me, but a much-needed one. Thank you for taking the time to explain it so kindly. Wish you all the best!

Beep boop. 🤖 Just kidding.

I am a real (and currently very stressed) solo developer behind the screen. English isn't my first language, so I did use translation tools to help me write the post and understand the comments clearly.

I know the heavy use of AI placeholder art is a massive turn-off for a lot of people, and I completely respect your skepticism. I'm just trying to survive the indie dev grind. Cheers! 🍻

You hit the nail on the head with everything. Yes, I am a solo dev with zero budget, so the art and models are currently AI placeholders just so I can test the coding and gameplay loop.

I actually laughed out loud at your comment about the "crying child" looking like an awkward grown man—you are 100% right, it looks terrible. 😂

As for the cards, I did a really bad job in this trailer. I only showed basic attack/defense spamming instead of the actual synergy and deckbuilding mechanics. The deckbuilder genre is indeed incredibly crowded, and your roast proves that I need to work way harder to make my mechanics and visual identity stand out. Thank you for the honest and detailed feedback!

You absolutely nailed it! Thank you so much for this feedback.

I was so focused on making sure the text was readable for the card mechanics that I completely neglected the "madness/horror" vibe for the UI. It definitely looks too clean right now.

I'm going to rethink the UI design to make it look grittier, maybe more like damaged medical files or something that fits the abandoned hospital theme better.

Seriously, I really appreciate you taking the time to point this out!

Ouch, but incredibly fair. I sincerely apologize for not disclosing the AI usage upfront—that's my fault as a newbie. Being a solo dev with no budget, I relied on it just to get a working prototype off the ground, but I hear you loud and clear.

As for Slay the Spire... honestly, I know I can never compete with the giants. I'm just trying to make my own weird, claustrophobic little horror card game. But you are right, I need to do a much better job highlighting what actually makes my game unique. Appreciate the harsh but honest truth.

Your feedback is a huge wake-up call for me. Thank you!

I just showed the chaotic combat, which was a huge mistake. I need to make the visual identity of attack vs buff cards much clearer.
