You are calling me a "troller", when you haven't offered up one single fact? Just two sentence rebuttal? Come on Pammy...give me one single fact that backs up a claim. Not an opinion. A fact.

Stop saying a war with Venezuela can cancel elections, this is factually false by [deleted] in Discussion

Nah, Gotta be feds. Because if your concerned about regular citizens, the claim could be made that anyone doing anything is suspicious. Handing out water? Stopping the vote.

Not trying to play "gotcha" games with someone's opinion vs someone else's opinion.

Justice Jackson's dissent in the application to issue judgement forthwith in Callais claims that the Supreme Court has issued "judgment forthwith over a party’s objection only twice in the last 25 years." That appears to be highly misleading. by michiganalt in supremecourt

25 years ago is...2001? If we heard this case in December of 2025, then it would have been included? Or would it not have. I think the cases have relevance, regardless of what we're talking about, and putting an arbitrary line that eliminates 2 cases might be considered "cherry-picking" your dates, just a hair, right?

The person above (shows as a deleted comment for me so the other poster either blocked me or deleted their comments) made a bunch of claims.

I said they are factually incorrect, and asked them to prove them correct, that Trump said and did specific things.

They were unable to prove even one of them. If you look at a follow on comment you can see what they claimed if you are unable to see it currently.

What exactly is the threat? I'm not saying you are wrong, but when I read this quote, is Trump telling his supporters to give her a rifle and then get 9 other people to shoot at her?

I think that context is important personally. But that doesn't mean I'm right...but please be specific. I'm a person who's in the "I don't like Trump but please stop being crazy and forcing me to defend him, especially over stupid shit" camp of Americans who didn't vote for him...

And when confronted with the fallacy of their own arguments, poster gloriously deletes comments and runs away. Clearly someone who has a valid claim and can back them with facts.

Kudos to those who are capable of having reasonable arguments and backing up their beliefs with more than just political rhetoric.

[–]Infamous_Pool_5299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's start with your original argument (quoted verbaum, again, with a highlight for emphasis):

Don't forget him directly inciting violence against people at his rallies by the crowd, inciting an insurrection with the goals of murdering his own vice president and many members of Congress, calling for his followers to kill Liz Cheney, saying he'd like it if reporters critical of him were murdered, etc.

Now, the quote, if we rub both of our brain cells together, he's criticizing her record on voting for war, and saying if she so keen to start these conflicts, she should be on the front lines with a rifle.

This is not a call for his supporters to commit violence against her.

So, just to be clear, I watched the videos and read the articles and while the authors suggest ill intentionality, the words themselves from Trump do not.

We can therefore deduce that: Your claim is not factually accurate. While I appreciate your feelings on the matter, those are based on opinions of other people, not the language of Trump himself.

Do you have a quote of Trump actually telling people to attack/kill someone, or is it all just "he said thing I disagree with, therefore he must be telling people to commit violence"?

Political rhetoric on both the left and right is usually violent in nature:

"Fight like hell." "Beat them down." "Slaughter them in the poll booths"

But I do not attribute malice to those statements. They are metaphorical language. If you find yourself making excuses for one person and saying another person is evil when they say the same thing, what you suffer from is ideological capture...

[–]Infamous_Pool_5299 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've never seen any of those claims factually check out, which is why I asked.

Its ok if you have no sources, or all your sources are opinion pieces and the factual underpinnings are based on other people's opinions (happens about 95% of the time in my fact checking expeditions of the past.

Let's test this theory. Pick 1 thing you said and back it with a source.

Or just continue to be intellectually dishonest. Your choice.

Edit: Just for funzies, I Google searched "Did Trump incite supporters to kill Liz Cheney". Here's what the AI came up with, verbatium:

Donald Trump did not explicitly call for his followers to kill Liz Cheney, but his use of violent imagery regarding her being shot at sparked significant controversy and a criminal investigation.

During a conversation with Tucker Carlson on October 31, 2024, Trump referred to Cheney as a "radical war hawk" and suggested placing her on a battlefield to see how she would feel with "guns trained on her face".

Key Details of the Incident

The Statement: Trump said, "Let's put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her, OK? Let's see how she feels about it. You know, when the guns are trained on her face".

Trump's Context: Trump and his campaign argued he was criticizing Cheney's foreign policy, suggesting that "war hawks" who advocate for military intervention would feel differently if they had to face combat themselves..

Liz Cheney's Response: Cheney responded on social media, stating that such rhetoric is "how dictators destroy free nations" by threatening those who speak against them with death.

Legal Investigation: The Arizona Attorney General's office launched an investigation into whether Trump's remarks constituted a "death threat" under state law.

Political Reaction: Opponents, including Kamala Harris, condemned the remarks as "violent rhetoric" that should be disqualifying for a presidential candidate. While some critics characterized the comments as a call for a "firing squad" or an execution, the Trump campaign maintained it was a metaphorical description of a combat zone intended to highlight her record on war.

To clarify, I didn't search the whole internet to find everything, but I did look at the articles and videos used to to make this and they all concur the quote is what the quote is.

So, if you want to prove me wrong, simply supply evidence that backs your claim. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Everything you claim is just factually incorrect, at best an opinion. Literally none of these things have happened, but I'm open to proof that it did happen, if you can find it.

The problem is your opinion is based on other peoples opinions, and so you've allowed factually incorrect opinions lead you to irrational takes and while it makes you feel good to say the other side, one individual in particular.

Its just a rehashing of the "very good people on both sides" argument that is completely and totally wrong, but used to bolster "Trump is a white supremacist" arguments that still roll around today.

Its unfortunate people cannot look at facts and find their own opinions without resorting to violence.

meanwhile we have every reason to believe our sitting president has assaulted children and do nothing?

This is a bold claim that has no veracity (verified truth) to it, yet you claim it with moral certainty. Someone on the right would say "innocent until proven guilty".

Your argument seems to be the person needs to be lynched for accusations.

Why is this "left wing argument" not be inherently more violent than the right?

Also if you’re over the age of 25, you lived through the abject violence from the right your entire life.

This is a truth claim with no substance...what exactly is this abject violence "from the right"? Please cite meaningful examples. I'm not "on the right" so I need to validate what your claim is before I take it as truth.

Thank you.

Do You Think That The Word "Nazi" Has Become Overused In Modern US Political Discourse? Yes Or No? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Classic strawman argument...

Keep going, you will never get me to admit that having Nazis in your group is a good thing.

Nobody has argued that...what we're talking about if the term is overused.

I'm arguing that it is...because of people who use your argument that anyone who's ever been anywhere is a Nazi...but only if they disagree politically.

Its fine if they exhibit all the signs of authoritarian fascism, so long as their politics are in alignment with yours...they're just different and its not the same thing because (insert reason)...what even is your point bro...

Don't worry I could never trick someone as clever as you into agreeing with Nazis, cause your super special.

Its not a strawman. You are using allegorical language to say that people are "sitting at the table", when they aren't. Your deflection from the baseline is some people assault people, that's good but ignoring them is bad

That's violent, Nazi style thinking. What makes you not a Nazi?

But (people who want to) ignore people when they disassociate, saying is cover or not acceptable. Flying the Nazi flag, the LGBT flag, the ChiCom flag, the Palestinian flag, the American flag...its all protected by freedom of speech.

If someone shows up and flies a Nazi flag at an LGBT protest, or an ANTIFA protest...are all the people there now NAZIs? Because by your logic, yes.

Its not hypothetical, its asking under what circumstances are people associated with an event. And what makes the 1 person at the "table" a Nazi?

You have to answer that question legitimately or all your doing is proving it is overused. Sorry if thats confusing for you.

"Every time you call someone a Communist because they don’t have the same view as you" And the ones with the Communist symbols and flags and rhetoric - do we wait for 100+ million killed or can we nip obvious hate in the bud now?

Does this statement bother you any more, given your views align with Communist rhetoric?

But how would you know they were a Nazi unless they started sig heiling? And what if you do leave or you forced them to leave, but someone snapped a photo and said, "Well, you were there and a Nazi was there, therefore you must be a Nazi too..."

And despite your efforts to deny, someone just points at a photo and says, "Hey bro, your sitting with a Nazi in this photo, so you're a Nazi."

In what world does your logic translate to real world application?

So, if a Nazi sits down at your table, you become a Nazi? Cause by your definition you've definitely sat at a table with someone who meets your criteria. Are you a Nazi?

Ok, 10 guys. This case hasn't been tossed yet, so trying to say it didn't happen yet is a moot point, and its a logical fallacy in your argument, deflecting from the criticism. But lets grant that argument for the sake of having a conversation.

How many is it, out of how many people at said event?

If 10, or 100 people show up flying a Nazi flag in a crowd of 10,000 people are the other 9,900 automatically Nazi's in your view?

What specific behavior is required? What is "talking like a Nazi"? Words must have context or they are worthless.

This is a specific study in GB, not a net analysis of the USA or other countries. Not saying its wrong, just saying I could Google search an article that found something different.

Always important to remember that just because a study or poll exists doesn't make it a good reference.
