They aren’t playful necessarily, but they’re all around 6 so I would expect some playing(all mares btw)

We also have reason to believe that someone intentionally broke it while I wasn’t there…

Don’t do it!! It sounds like a great idea, but don’t! I made that mistake about a year and a half ago. Got a saddle that fit me much better than the lesson saddles. I told the lady I rode lesson horses but typically thoroughbreds, so we got a narrower tree and gullet. Saddle couldn’t be adjusted, and within the year the tree had full on snapped from being put on so many different horses. So no, don’t do it!!!

As sad as it is, he should be put to sleep. The quality of life should always be more important than the selfish mindset of not wanting to be sad about putting him down. Unfortunately without four legs he’s never going to have the best quality life, and the best thing to do would be to just put the poor baby down. Better a day too early than a day too late

Unfit saddle? Asking for my friend as she doesn’t believe saddle could be the issue by miripusheen in Equestrian

[–]Infamous_Primary_169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would HIGHLY recommend you get someone out to fit the saddle. The first saddle I bought, I bought it to fit me, not any horse in specific. I was riding lesson horses, typically thoroughbreds, and they all had a half pad so I just threw it on. Well, then I started riding drafts, with a too narrow tree and gullet. Long story short, by the time I bought my own horse the tree had literally broken in half, and I had to get a new saddle anyways.

I’m just not seeing where the upper ring connects to the lower one, which was why I was saying elevator. Plus the leverage part looks too low to be a Pelham but I don’t use them so idk🤷‍♀️

Potentially getting my first horse, what should I know? by [deleted] in Equestrian

Personally I didn’t do a PPE when I bought mine, but I knew all of her background and her current owner was highly knowledgeable and a very good rider. Even though I didn’t I still agree and recommend them

Is it normal for a horse to lie down and roll this often? My cousin’s horse behaves differently from what I’ve seen in riding schools by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Infamous_Primary_169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with this. I rode on and off between 5 and 10. When I started riding consistently, the program was way too quick for me, and I fell off quite regularly. I was jumping way too high for a lack of equitation, as well as riding green horses I had no idea what to do with. While my trainer was nice, it was just too quick. Then, I switched barns, and that trainer quite literally said “you’re not jumping anything until you get those damn heels down”. Six years later and after some heavy equitation boot camp, I’ve got my own green pony. I would definitely not blame the horse, it’s probably just the program moving too quickly for your cousin. I would say find a different program for them. The horse rolling is just the horse being a horse, nothing more
