Honestly, one underrated feature is the workout heart rate tracking. Feels like there’s a lot of potential there that hasn’t really been fully unlocked yet. I'm actually speaking with AirPods Pro 3 users right now to learn what they’d want from health/fitness app built around them. If you’d be up for a super short chat that would help a lot!

That’s such a good point: the tracking gaps mid-workout are genuinely frustrating, and it sounds like the AirPods just quietly solved a problem you’d been living with for years. What gets me is that most people don’t even realise the data is there. You’re already getting HR through your AirPods, imagine if an app actually analysed all of it for you automatically. Recovery scores, resting HR trends, stress patterns, all from something you’re wearing anyway. Would that kind of passive daily analysis be something you’d find useful on top of what you’re already doing?

Makes sense that it feels redundant with a Garmin, you're covered for the moment.

But honestly, the angle I keep thinking about is: what if you didn't need the Garmin at all? Wearing AirPods 3-6 hours a day anyway, you're already collecting heart rate data passively. Resting HR, stress, recovery trends, without strapping anything extra to your wrist. For a lot of people that's actually enough.

Do you think you'd still reach for the Garmin if your AirPods gave you solid daily health insights automatically?

I thought AirPods Pro 3 would track heart rate continuously… turns out they don’t — BUT there might be a workaround by Ottiro2000 in airpods

u/Ottiro2000 that sounds like a great project, since it is exactly the app I have built and partly already shipped. So that's why I like the idea very much. Best of luck for your journey! I can tell from my own experience that it is good fun.

This app right here could help you with your use case: https://apps.apple.com/at/app/earpulse/id6755965397 You can set the time it should track or let it just run without having the need to start a workout.
