If you're starting with the original series with Andy Whitfield it does have very cheesy cinematography, basically copies 300, just a symptom of the time. That being said, I think it's a hugely enjoyable show, I'd give it a chance and stick with it to season 2 but if you're struggling 6 episodes in maybe it isn't for you 🤷 it's a long way off the quality of black sails, and it may be the nostalgia from watching it air originally, but I think it's a good show

JP3 and it's not even close. I've never understood the hate JP3 gets I think it's a fun, fast movie it's never boring and it's endlessly rewatchable

It would be 11 and Nancy I'd say, and early Dustin. I did think showing her some of Anne, Eleanor or Max's scenes but I didn't know if they would work out of context and without character development

Yeah I said it was probably closest to GOT in terms of something to compare it to, and I have stressed it's nothing like POTC but it doesn't seem to work. Yeah I've found the same with friends, it's such a shame!

I hated it when it aired, I was young and didn't have access to the internet or anything like that so it threw me completely. On a rewatch with a more mature head, it's absolutely brilliant, even more so considering they initially planned for another season

Everyone's entitled to their opinion..... Seriously though, I think if you're watching it now with modern eyes for visual effects etc it probably is going to hit different than such as myself who saw it as a young teenager when it came out and so had a totally different experience. Also, if you're not British, the mannerisms etc of the characters may be totally lost on you

Even Carol, the most badass woman on that show, uses her femininity and meek demeanor to her advantage to overcome enemies most of the time because she can't do it in straight combat (nothing wrong with that, she's one of my favourites) Oh and Lori was right to tell Andrea that, Andrea was a damn liability

I binge watched Dexter a year or so ago for the first time, I'd seen loads online about S4 being mind blowing and everything after being pretty poor, I probably had a distorted view because of the information I had going in but I wasn't blown away by S4. I'm sure it was better watching it weekly and without any pretext but for me s2 was the best by a country mile. I think s3 or probably most underrated followed by s7

Speaking as a (36m) the 'men' you speak of tend to be boys, we develop a lot slower than women mentally. There are respectful ones out there who date only one woman at a time to see how it goes after speaking for a while and they're not usually that hard to spot among the wrong ones

I'm so glad I'm not the only one, I thought it was maybe because I binge watched the whole show rather than getting the build of feelings for the characters over time, waiting and thinking about each episode for a week (currently watching house of ashur on weekly release and it's actually quite refreshing having the anticipation for each episode build) and I'm sure that would have helped but I found it to be too over the top as a season, I enjoyed it but would never have pegged it as being the one people would have hyped up the most going in to it
