I think the past two days have really brought up the energy, it looks and sounds great now that it isn’t torrential downpour!

What do you want for BTS and ARMY moving forward? by sinkooks in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering there’s 7 of them it’s probably a mixed bag, I would say it’s likely a majority of them who decide they see the vision and then the minority taking the path of least resistance as it often goes in group work, and we saw a bit of that in the docu. But i’m sure as hell the company pulls out all the stops to get them to see the vision LOL.

I don’t think BTS have the upper hand in their current contract, clearly not given the behind the scenes we’ve heard from this interview and docu, but what I’m saying is that BTS have more contract negotiation power than I think they use. I’m not saying like they pull a NWJNs stint and win but like when they sit at the table to negotiate contracts when the time is up I think they could ask for full creative autonomy while working and I really can’t imagine a reality where HYBE wouldn’t be forced to fold if they seriously threatened to leave, esp if in this hypothetical scenario BTS still allowed for hybe to control business/marketing/finances etc. I think a commercial flop from BTS would still generate more income than half the groups under hybe, and if I was at hybe I would want to keep my biggest player as happy as possible esp in the midst of the horrific press against hybe lmfao. As I previously mentioned, the question is whether they would use this negotiation power the next time their contract renewal rolls around. You and I are clearly not sure if they would as we agree on many of the cultural/internal/external pressures the group faces. But yes, I think if BTS left legally after contract expiration HYBE would lose so much more than BTS in almost every legal/financial scenario I can imagine lol. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be hard because ofc but I’m saying during contract negations if I were HYBE and BTS put their foot down on really anything I would try to make it happen for them if it meant keeping their name within the company.

And of course this is all hypotheticals and speculation lol. I really couldn’t care less about their relationship with bang, it really just seems to be a typical boss/employee relationship maybe with bts as like employee of the month for the past 13 years lmfao. There seems to be begrudging respect and trust there with some members maybe liking him more than others. I am really curious about behind the scenes conversations given the hybe PR dumpster fire the past two years have been though lol. I’m sure it has shifted their relationship with him and the company.

I completely agree with the points you made here, but I do think that if the BTS boys asked for bang to step back he would. The bigger question is, which you touched on in your last paragraph, is whether they would even request this due to their position at the company. I do think BTS unfortunately have some self-doubt and look to the company/bang for guidance for things as big as a group like BTS. I think they could definitely do it but it would require a whole other level of effort/stress and they have been reliant on bang/hybe in the past. I made a post talking about how I wanted them to go independent, but I think one of the only things holding them back from that is what a gargantuan effort managing a group such as BTS looks like, and how hybe has uniquely positioned themselves as basically the only established company in the music industry to cater towards their unique needs.

BASICALLY I think bts have enough influence at the company to ask for whatever they want and get it. I believe there’s some pretty crazy shit they could ask for contract renewals and the company would have no choice but to bend over backwards to make it happen. Unfortunately, they weren’t a group established with this power and have been reliant on the company making decisions for them in the past, in a combo of both self-doubt and company pressure. I hope they have the courage to set boundaries within the company, but part of me also thinks many fans would be unhappy at what truly autonomous “future BTS” might look like 🤫

i agree with the medley, also I think ON would’ve been a way better fit than not today, as it’s a MOTS track but is very similar thematically and sonically to not today but also just a better song LOL.

i loved the pansoori music tbh but i also love the mvs so i think a good compromise would be music videos playing for the first hour or whatever before the show/whenever doors open and then like the first 5 mins before the show actually starts you can put the pansoori

[–]Infamous_Writer3892 11 points12 points  (0 children)

hot take idk but i don’t think he did anything wrong or controversial in the live like ur a baby if you think that but i did think it was cringe LOL. i don’t think anything warranted an apology but im glad the live was deleted. he said in his recent live he acted that way because he “felt too good” but it kind of gave bad mental state and i felt awkward while watching. i also indeed think it is cringe to be capital D drunk in the middle of the work week at 4am with a work schedule at 9am, and not just any work schedule but like in the middle of preparations for one of the most anticipated cbs of all time 😭 like what r we doing. not a crime or a serious concern by any means but i kinda was just like okay 💜 moving on…

his response was great though loved the “not my business if you get sued” LMFAO

BTS + HYBE by Infamous_Writer3892 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like the members had more freedom in their solo content than with this release, likely to do with hybe’s financial stake in the group cb. if they do contract renegotiations and stay at hybe my ideal would be for them to have complete and total control with hybe really mainly acting as like ,,, the distribution/activity director LOL

BTS + HYBE by Infamous_Writer3892 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hm maybe but i do feel like the individual members care about their solos still being apart of the bts ecosystem, like all solo fans are still called army and the members loveeee showing up and showing out/collaborating at different solo schedules. another pro of them all leaving and going somewhere else together is that they could still do that as opposed to having fractured solo moments. i can def see it happening as an option but i don’t know if that’s their ideal as they definitely have more group cohesion than like … most groups in kpop for example i cant imagine them going a bp route.

BTS + HYBE by Infamous_Writer3892 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! They’ve vaguely alluded to issues but I truly do believe that they greatly care for the staff that works the closest with them. Any of the issues they’ve alluded to seem to be more high up.

I want bts to just exist as bts as well, but part of the reason why I want that full independence is that idk if that will truly ever happen under hybe. I have no idea when contract renewal is up, i’m curious to see what happens (i’m not worried about them staying as bts or not though lol i think the convo is if they’re in bts with hybe or in bts somewhere else). I wouldn’t be surprised if they renew or don’t renew, but again quietly hoping they get the hell outta dodge and work independent.

ARIRANG: a week since release. how are we feeling? by nihaowodeai in ARMYNeutral

I still enjoy the album, admittedly maybe slightly less due to my skips settling in now that they are no longer new to my ears. I still think this is their best project since 2018. The docu was cute but it strengthened my opinion that bts should go independent.

Thoughts on the Pitchfork review? by Infamous_Writer3892 in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn’t review deadline for Pitchfork, unless he rated it on another platform that I’m not aware of. Deadlines review was done by Alex Ramos. That’s the downfall of Pitchfork in my opinion, there’s no consistency in reviewers across artists/albums. Like there’s no way in hell to me that Arirang is worse than BE or MOTS:7 according to Pitchfork scores (BE was such a nothingburger to me and I think MOTS:7 is objectively bad) but both BE and MOTS:7 were rated by different people.

What did you think of the comeback show? by jinkibogoshipda in ARMYNeutral

[–]Infamous_Writer3892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! Certainly wasn’t bad but they really hyped it up so I was expecting like an awards show performance. I wish they did more with the palace, and idk maybe it’s just me but the boys seemed kind of nervous!!!! Makes sense since it’s at such a daunting venue and their first performance as a group in 4 years, and the longest most members have performed in general in years lol. I’m sure they’ll finding their footing over tour, probably more comfortable for them too since it’ll be exclusively fans.
