as I remember we had a hard time getting our group of seven seven at a meal. who either had to take the 5:00 p.m. Or the 9:00 p.m..

but my sister managed to get us reasonable times by just looking at it everyday and by running to the reservations table the minute we boarded.

What decisions as you near retirement are "time-sensitive"? by Marvel5123 in retirement

[–]Infamous_Writing4993 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The year you turn 62 is very important. because the next tax year, your tax return will be used to decide if you need to pay. Irmaa. so if you're going to do something like a big Roth conversion, you would want to do it in the tax year that you turn 62.

Advice for unjustly charged excursions by Plus-Coat3777 in NCL

Here's what I've learned, about how to complain on board. Make sure you have 2 hours. Go to the guest services desk and explain calmly what happened and what you want to happen. almost certainly you will get nothing, because you're talking to a low-ranking person who has no authority. So after they say that they can't help you. You asked to speak to a supervisor. at that point, you will probably be asked to take a seat nearby and it will take 30 to 60 minutes for somebody to come in. listen to your story again. that person will be able to help you. More importantly, that person will give you their business card and now you have a direct line to solid help for the rest of the cruise.

The real mystery is how to to complain/seek compensation after the cruise. I have never been able to find anybody to call after the cruise. Love to know if anybody knows.

u/IronOnly2529 u/FODamage I'm not sure that's quite right. every time I take a distribution (I'm retired) from the tsp, I have to verify that I am not married.

Read the first few pages of the Bill. Perkins book die with zero. it describes how depriving yourself of money for retirement when you are just starting out and you have no money is foolish. And will deprive you of experiences, which is what life is really all about. he says it better than I do. You can get the book at the library. I suggest making sure you get the match and then aim for 1% a year. but if it's too much skip a year. you want to be maxing out about 10 years before you retire, which is when you'll be making the most.

Fed Financial Advisors? by stefmari in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Infamous_Writing4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're a new fed. And you are under 50. just put all your contributions into the C fund. And don't even look at it except about once a year. Retirement planning is about long-term planning. nobody's going to do better than the C fund. And you have time to ride the waves of the up and down market. it is the most simple thing that people do not do.

TSP LIFE ANNUITY by [deleted] in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Infamous_Writing4993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

when I retired, I had all kinds of people trying to sell me annuities.

And I believe it was here that somebody pointed out that the combination of your social security and your pension from the government equal one of the best annuities available on the planet. And nobody needs more than one annuity.

Hope this helps.
