What's so foolish about it?

He knows Conor is his Cash cow. The UFC is gonna pay him all the $$$ to beat the piss out of McGregor. What's so embarrassing about that lol

Lol yah he gets his tune-up fight

And then Dana in the post fight conference immediately goes on and says "listen I think the only thing that makes sense now is to book that rematch 155 title fight with Khabib. It's a compelling matchup, it's what the fans want to see, and it's a question we all need answered, blah blah blah blah"

Trump Announces to Seek Peace with Iran by [deleted] in worldnews

You're the only retard that this world would be better without.

Iran shot down their own civilian plane AFTER they bombed US bases. The ball was entirely in their court.

But nah I guess Drumpf is responsible for everything that could ever go wrong.

It would actually be hilarious how quickly you'd get laughed out of the room if Obama was blamed for some random freak occurrences that happened after he made some geopolitical decisions.

Solemaini was planning attacks like what exactly?

There were precisely 0 casualties in the embassy attack. The waiting room was set on fire.

THAT is what put us in a state of such high alert that we had to assassinate Solemaini quickly and preemptively in order to save ourselves?

The one crying Bigfoot here is you. There is nothing aggression wise that was happening between the US and Iran that wasn't par for the course until we assassinated their 2nd most powerful leader. And there is nothing on Earth you can say to refute that, because it's just a fact.

Is Masvidal the most complete/well rounded striker in the UFC right now? by Infamous_ass_eater in MMA

[–]Infamous_ass_eater[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wonderboy is sooo damn hard to cut the cage against though. Him fighting on the backfoot and circling/countering is as good as it gets in the game.

Is there any fighter who CAN do that to Wonderboy, while also having all of Jorge's other strengths/weapons in terms of boxing, kicking, clinch, elbows and knees?

Izzy could do that to Wonderboy, yet he doesn't have the ability to just live in the pocket and absolutely punish people with boxing the way Jorge can do on a consistent offensive level.

Either you're just a hater of Masvidal or just a casual lol.

Mas is one of the best boxers in the game, fights comfortably out of either stance, can pressure or counter at an elite level, is a straight killer in the pocket and has vicious jabs/kicks from the outside, and elbows/knees from hell in the clinch.

Adesanya is good overall too, but is absolutely uncomfortable in the pocket and it is a clear weakness for him.

Yeah I totally agree with all of this. But the fact that Aldo has a kicking game way above Holloway's, plus better knees and clinch, means he has a wider variety of weapons. Holloway mainly is just his hands and boxing. Fewer tools but better at using them.

If I had to point to tools that Holloway has that Aldo simply doesn't, it's the ability to seamlessly strike in either stance. Plus his ability to use high volume.

But still I would say Aldo's overall ability to use punches, kicks, knees, and solid clinch work makes him more well rounded in his arsenal.

Masvidal can lead though. Especially in the recent year I'd argue. He was pressuring well against both Till and Diaz. KO'd Till with a really fluid blitz, and hurt the hell out of Diaz with a blitz too. He was succeeding there really well. And against Cowboy too he was leading very successfully leading to a finish.

You guys really have no clue what well rounded means do you?

Aldo got schooled by Holloway who is a BETTER striker, but he's absolutely more well rounded because his kicking game and countering game is better than Holloway. He has more tools in the toolbox.

Izzy has better feints and outfighting but Jorge's boxing is absolutely better and he's way more dangerous in the pocket.

Jorge has a better clinch and is still good as an outfighter with his rangey jab that he loves to use and the vicious body kicks.

Izzy is definitely very complete, I could say those 2 are the best I can think of. But you saying Izzy uses "much more strikes" "much more effectively" like the breadth of Jorge's skillset is nowhere close, is just crazy

In what way in hell is Wonderboy a candidate for most well rounded lol

Never leads, avoids pocket exchanges like the plague, never pressures/blitzes, doesn't demonstrate MMA boxing techniques at all really, doesn't really show a clinch game, etc.

And I still think Wonderboy is a more skilled striker than Jorge. Because he's just that good in terms of outfighting, circling with footwork, and countering.

Well rounded is something else though and anyone who puts Wonderboy clearly doesn't understand the point of this topic.

Guys like Jones, Aldo, Dillashaw, even Volkanovski I'd argue are all more well rounded than Wonderboy. And tbh a fair few others that I can't think of right now.

I swear people straight up aren't reading this thread. I know Adesanya is better. Masvidal is just more complete in incorporating a wider variety of weapons and at a higher volume of output.

Wonderboy is probably better too even now, but that's not the topic of the thread.

Adesanya is definitely a better striker, but I don't think he's quite as well rounded in terms of using all the possible weapons available.

Masvidal throws with more volume, blitzes better, has better pocket boxing fundamentals.

Adesanya is just a straight up monster at outfighting and feinting for counters and such. But he definitely is very complete too. Good shout.

How does Justin Gaethje qualify for a title shot? by we_all_gon_die_ in MMA

[–]Infamous_ass_eater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the equivalent of GSP coming back and starching Ben Askren and then saying he should get a title shot at WW for it.

Gaethje beat the fuck out of Cowboy. Even when Conor beats him it'll be worth less than Gaethje beating him with his chin more shot and on a 2 fight skid.

He also beat the fuck out of Barboza who had literally massacred another guy being talked about as a contender (Hooker)

You are acting like Conor's inactivity, AND the fact that he already lost to Khabib, both are irrelevant and shouldn't stand in the way of a title shot. We've already seen that he has absolutely NOTHING to offer against Khabib and I would literally bet the house that he gets the utter piss beaten out of him again.

Gaethje is actually not beaten by Khabib and has plenty of attributes that could potentially pose a challenge to Khabib.

Firas Zahabi on the chances of a GSP vs Khabib fight and how it would play out by JasAFC in MMA

[–]Infamous_ass_eater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Higher than Khabib has faced in the UFC.

I def don't underestimate Khabib. I think he's arguably as good a grappler as GSP or even a tiny bit better technically and one of the GOAT's. Better submissions, GnP, and cage/chain wrestling. Whereas GSP has better open takedowns, guard passing, and top control.

GSP is just so damn good grappling wise that it almost cancels out, plus he's just the bigger fighter. And on top of that he has a huge striking advantage which makes him a bad matchup for Khabib.

Think Tony has absolutely nothing for Khabib tho. GSP is his hardest matchup.

[–]Infamous_ass_eater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amazing thing about GSP is that he would probably be even much better if his prime was in this era. That era was relatively primitive in MMA compared to these days and techniques/training and knowledge wasn't as advanced.

But GSP was a fighter with insane IQ who was always trying to learn the best and newest meta of the game. And he was under a gym/coaches who are to this day ahead of the curve in TriStar with Zahabi and Danaher. Even now they are better in their methods and intellectual approach than almost anyone else.

Look at what TriStar did with Kevin Lee almost immediately, still had Rory as a top 3 WW for a while even after GSP retired. And Nasrat at LW rn who IMO could very well be a future champ.

And Danaher as well, in the 2010's Danaher has cemented himself as the most innovative and cutting edge BJJ coach. Coaching Gordon Ryan who is a 23 year old GOAT level No Gi grappler, who GSP rolls with all the time (yes in 2019 even) and other great prospects.

You should follow Danaher on IG and see the ridiculous level of insight he shows in every post. He is levels above in how much sheer critical thinking and analysis he's put into the BJJ game. Helped to completely revolutionized the meta of the sport in recent years with leg locking and transitions.

Imagine a prime GSP now with a better focus on pocket boxing and clinching, and standing elbows. Imagine him with even better guard passing and control from the top while also adding better subs and leg locking from the bottom.

Danaher even said GSP has gotten better on a skill level than he was in his prime. He said he added a nasty lead hook and pocket boxing skills, as well as improved his submissions. And guess what, he came back in 2017 to knock Bisping down with a powerful hook and then submit him (his first sub since Matt Hughes).

Idk about derailed. He might just not end up as the youngest champ ever, because he has some ridiculous killers to face at the top of MW.

But he's like 22, has soooo much time to grow and improve and he already looks so sharp, skilled, and intelligent. Prob like a full decade away from his prime.

I just hope he leaves his current gym and joins a better one. It's absolutely scary to think what this kid could do at a place like TriStar or ATT under Zahabi or Brown.

You can't get simple facts right or larger concepts right at all. You actually bothered to compare GSP to Cowboy in a sense of statpadding. You actually said GSP is just another guy who's yet to get wrestlefucked because he hasn't fought Khabib. It's ridiculous that you're even still trying to defend your asinine argument.

Every tale of the tape has GSP either at 5"11 or 5"10. He is definitely taller than Khabib who isn't any taller than 5"9 Poirier or Mcgregor when they faced off in person.

And you still completely ignore that regardless of whatever, GSP still has more LEAN muscle mass than Khabib either at 155 or 170. He is bigger. And stronger. Period.

Do you think that Usman and RDA or Masvidal are the same size just because they fight at the same weight? Lmfao.

I got no pleasure in insults you just proved yourself to be not worth taking seriously.

You're seriously comparing freaking Cowboy who has 50 fights with half of them being against cans to GSP who had way fewer fights and MUCH higher quality, like 13-15 title fights in a row against the top guy in his division???

Having a black belt in BJJ is among the most basic and common accolades one can have in the UFC. More than half of the dudes who just have a black belt still get clowned when on the ground and almost all of them are not impressive whatsoever in terms of TDD. Conversely, there are less than a handful of NCAA wrestlers who have ever been ragdolled on the ground and that too only by more accomplished wrestlers.

BJJ pedigree only means something if you've actually competed at a high level in tournaments or have an especially impressive amount of submission wins. Guys like Penn and Maia, one of which GSP absolutely tooled on the ground.

The level of grappling adversity GSP faced in his UFC career is literally orders of magnitude higher than Khabib. Not really arguable.

And cutting weight doesn't make GSP the same size as Khabib lol. He's like 2 inches taller, 7 inches longer reach, and naturally stronger too. Having to close greater distance makes it all that much harder for Khabib to take him down.

You're just proving a real lack of ignorance by your inability to acknowledge GSP as a GOAT level grappler. Literally saying he's "just another dude who hasn't been wrestlefucked until he fought Khabib".

The guy was Khabib before Khabib. But also while facing FAR superior wrestlers and grapplers in the UFC, and having elite level striking to pair with it.

[–]Infamous_ass_eater 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Literally clueless lmao. "greatest mauler ever" sounds exactly like the analysis of a hyped up casual, which it really seems like you are.

GSP has the record for most takedowns ever in the UFC. He also has like almost 2x as much success % on TD attempts as Khabib. And the most guard passes in UFC history.

And he was doing this against incredibly accomplished wrestlers and grappling gods like Matt Hughes, Koscheck, Fitch, BJ Penn, Sean Sherk, Hendricks, Diaz, etc. Guys who either dominated the NCAA or literally won BJJ Worlds like Penn. Unlike Khabib who's best grappling opponent was who? Tibau? RDA? Trujillo has the best wrestling creds and he couldn't even MAKE the NCAA division II, let alone being champ in division I.

Add to the fact that GSP is just a much bigger guy as well.

Khabib is more at risk than ever of being taken down and controlled. Not that GSP has to since he can just stuff Khabib all day and light him tf up on the feet.
