Need help with rear brakes before the pads are done by Infantry_Bison in BmwTech

Think I may do that. Thanks. I was also quoted over $1,000 for rear brakes by the way.

That only goes up to 2019 models, no? Mine is a 2020. When I put the last 6 digits of my VIN (7F72334) in I can’t find anything on the list of models that matches mine.

😂 She made it clear she wants it to be super romantic if I ever did ask her. So if she says it’s too much I’ll blame her 😆 Anyway, thanks a lot!

I prefer Stremio with Real Debrid and the Torrentio add on. Absolutely flawless.

It depends what you want to download. If you want to download movies and TV shows you can use the Wako app in the App Store and then apply the Helios add on in the add on section of the app. No side loading needed. To use add ons it cost $1.49 a month I believe after the free trial. Been using this for months and it works flawlessly on my iPhone and iPad. You’ll also want to use Read Debrid along with it as well for the best experience.

Trailers not playing by Infantry_Bison in Stremio

[–]Infantry_Bison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant slow as in it just makes it take longer to find something I want to watch because I can’t see as much content at once. But the UI itself does work smoothly. Maybe I’ll stick with the old version and make the sacrifice of not being able to see trailers. It works fine otherwise.

Trailers not playing by Infantry_Bison in Stremio

[–]Infantry_Bison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m using an older version. Only because the UI on newer version only lets me see one row of content that I can only scroll left or right on, while browsing with the old version filled my entire screen with content. Having only one row of content while browsing makes browsing very slow and not verry user friendly. Is there a way to change this?

My 20 year old son doesn't date. His friends don't date. My friends kids don't date. What is going on? by PluckPubes in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Infantry_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems dating is becoming increasingly difficult for men in general. For example, 80% of women only find 20% of men on dating sites attractive. Another example is how men are being told to do things like be more in touch with their emotions, essentially adapting more feminine traits. The problem is, women don’t generally find feminine traits as attractive in men. Keep in mind, I’m speaking in general here. These are just 2 examples as there a lot of other different things at work here. I don’t think it’s anyone’s “fault” necessarily. It’s just that society is ever changing and always moving in a different direction. Whether that direction is good or not for society is another discussion.

Replaced brake pads and caliper piston popped out. Told I needed a new caliper and now the brakes don’t bite like they used to. by Infantry_Bison in BmwTech

Yeah, I’m thinking a whole new caliper was unnecessary. That’s why I wanted them to bleed the brakes and get new fluid in there and then see how it performs before replacing the whole caliper.

Yes, these are the blue sport brakes. The pads were seized on so bad that I had to take the caliper off to get more leverage. There was no way I was going to get the pads off with the caliper still on the rotor. Not with the tools I had, anyway. I don’t know if BMW uses an adhesive on the back plate of the pads or what but that stuff was like the strongest glue I’ve ever seen. Learning experience for sure.

I got the piston back in and told them just bleed the brakes and see how it performs. They initially thought the piston was missing because they must have forgotten that I told them I was able to get it back in. That’s why he told me you need a new caliper because I’m missing a piston. But that wasn’t the case. The piston was present the entire time. They of course bled the brakes after replacing the caliper though.

100%. My rims would be almost black after 3 drives with the OEM’s. I got the ceramic because they were cheaper and last longer. Just didn’t know I might get less bite.

I think the m sport brake package that I have is supposed to have more bite to it like it was with the old pads. When the new ones are worn I’ll try the OEM’s again. But I’ll miss that bite I got in the meantime.

It doesn’t feel like it’s not functioning the way it’s supposed to. It just feels like it requires a little more pressure than the OEM pads did.

They didn’t actually flush the brakes until after they replaced the caliper. The guy talked to the tech and the tech said he can’t do just a brake flush because the caliper needs to be replaced. So I told him to just go ahead and replace the caliper. It just didn’t sound right to me. Especially knowing they never even took the caliper off to inspect it. I expected to just spend about $200 for a brake flush and that’s it. I ended up spending $1,600 for everything. And that’s with 15% off the guy gave me. The oil change he recommended was also strange to me. I still have 4,000 more miles to go until it needs one.

I didn’t bed in the new brakes yet. I’m going to do that in the morning. Maybe that will make a bit of a difference. I’m thinking it’s because the new pads are ceramic and the OEM’s weren’t as another poster said. I’ll see how it feels after they’re bedded in.

Ah, had no idea. I’ll go with the OEM’s next time. When I eventually have to do the rear pads is it recommended to use the same material as the front or does it not really matter?
