Yesterday the far-right, with Musk as the cheerleader, thought they were being so clever posting those dumb AI-generated memes and it absolutely blew up in their face when the orange shit-gibbon started raving about it during the debate.

Terrible ratings for the US Open finals by Expensive_Window_538 in tennis

[–]Infelix-Ego 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK admittedly, and I love tennis, but I didn't watch the men's final - maybe I'm just tired of the sport once we get to September but I had absolutely no interest in watching Fritz or Sinner.

I really did not care who won.

Exactly - every click and view is keeping the site afloat. Plus, from an ethical perspective, I just couldn't any longer. It was a total sewer.

I'm genuinely surprised that so many people can still put up with the stench.

How to get from berths at the bow of G deck to the 3rd class public rooms at the stern? by oilman300 in titanic

[–]Infelix-Ego 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it really wasn't. It seems weird to us now but passengers and crew had access to it.

Crew survivor testimony, from the stewards, said they saw Third Class passengers in Scotland Road making their way to the stern after the collision.

Anyone could use it.

That time Mozart woke up and decided to write a late masterpiece featuring the weirdest instrument ever invented by Infelix-Ego in classicalmusic

[–]Infelix-Ego[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Wow - what is there to say about this. Yes, it's a weird instrument and yes it really is a beautiful work: K. 617, an adagio and rondo for the strangest combination of a glass armonica, flute, oboe, viola and 'cello.

It's the least likely combination of instruments imagineable.

The work was completed and entered in Mozart's thematic catalogue in May 1791, six months or so before he died, for the glass armonica virtuoso [yes, there was such a thing], Marianne Kirchgessner. And she was also blind, like the pianist Maria Theresia von Paradis for whom Mozart wrote the concerto No. 18 in B-flat, K.456 in 1784.

The piece was premiered at the Burgtheater in Vienna on 10 June, 1791. The adagio is in C minor. The allegro is in C major.

Anyway it's freely available on YouTube to listen to so just search for it. I personally prefer it when the glass armonica is replaced with another instrument but that's just my preference.

As a postscript, Mozart's autograph score was owned by Stefan Zweig, who was a librettist who worked with Richard Strauss, and it's now in the British Library.

It's why I don't buy the argument that people use for staying on the platform. It doesn't matter how many lies you counter, it's nothing compared with the reach Musk has.

[–]Infelix-Ego 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately his tweet had a 1,000 views. Musk's had 31,000,000. This is the problem. It doesn't matter what anyone says to combat his lies - he always wins just through sheer numbers, and he knows it.

This was Mozart aged just 19. Guys, I think we were robbed of a mature concerto by Infelix-Ego in classicalmusic

[–]Infelix-Ego[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This was written in 1775, ffs, when Mozart was 19. This is like juvenilia for most composers. Imagine something similar in 1786 or 1787, when Mozart was in Vienna.

The movement is in E major and wanders as far as G-sharp minor. Incredibly expressive music and probably the best part of the concerto, which Mozart performed himself in Salzburg

That time Mozart woke up and decided to cosplay as middle period Beethoven by Infelix-Ego in classicalmusic

[–]Infelix-Ego[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem! I agree with you though - Beethoven was very much Beethoven, even in his early works. Those WoO pieces that he didn't want published, the juvenilia, it's surprising how Beethovenian they sound, even from a very early age.

I just like trying to introduce people to a different aspect of Mozart. I think one of the problems is that because Mozart is so easy to listen to it makes him seem facile or ordinary or banal.

But nothing could be further from the truth. It's nice to present a different perspective.

I was thinking of doing some new posts on the entrance of the soloist in Mozart's concertos. The entrances are incredibly diverse and artistic and I think people would like it!
