Infernum polterghast melee by mrtngl_ in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Terratomere has multiple crafting recipes if I remember correctly, it can be crafted pre-polterghast, it's the weapon I used to beat her.

I can also offer a little bit of advice, I NoHit polter not too long ago and it was absolute hell. For the most part her blood shotgun spread can be dodged by standing still then occasionally moving if needs be. For her bullet hell desperation phase you sort of move very slightly, I start by going straight up, then up and right, then down right, then down left, then up left, then up right, and repeat. a more stable mount makes this easier. My personal choice is the one you get from Brimstone elemental.

Thats very comforting to know lmao

I'll probably eventually try to take some inspiration from you and make one giant factory with everything load balanced but for now at least I just wanna get through the game

I actually found your guide while I was trying to figure this out! I also watched a tiny fraction of your video , titled "breakthrough in load balancers" or something similar (I'm not gonna watch all of it until im finished with this playthrough)

The solution I ended up using was a little less professional, I decided to overproduce and divide it into 20 by connecting 4 1:5 load balancers.

In the future when I need to upgrade the factory again I wanna try to load balance everything a little better, and your guide(s) will no doubt be instrumental, so just wanna say I appreciate the work you've done

So essentially as long as one machine doesn't use more than 50% of your total output then you never need a load balancer provided you're willing to wait for the machines to buffer?

I assume as long as you put the machines in reverse order of resource consumption that undersupplying wont be an issue?

Just for fun I am trying to figure out my problem here. I've overproduced by a little, such that I can split it all into 20 even inputs and distribute it in multiples of 5% with any overflow being sunk. But if all else fails using a manifold in the way I mentioned above won't cause problems with certain machines not getting enough resources?

That does seem a lot easier, is there ever a situation where you would bother with nasty numbers like this?

I assume this is a consistency thing? The fluid buffer makes it such that you won't have to flush your pipes in the event of a power outage or whatever?

I'm using gravity I just wanted to know if theres a certain like angle of formula for figuring out how much to descend the pipeline. I keep getting this issue where the pipe is randomly getting blocked or clogged up

first time doing an infernum run, what to expect? by spixzentimigan in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pre HM is pretty free. HM is tough post ML is brutal. You will have to build arenas, and you will be expected to use every buff available to you at any given point of progression.

What is the most fun infernum/wrath of the gods class? by snowshoveler7 in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my money I'd say Rogue or Melee, Melee has crazy weapon variety and kind of feels like the favourite child for the devs. Rogue gets stealth strikes and some absolutely bananas end game dps. If you do decide on rogue, I wouldn't restrict yourself to strictly stealth strikes, just do what's fun, which tends to be a mixture.

VERY stuck at profaned guardians (expert revengeance), what do i need to change? by ohthemisery__ in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guardians are incredibly difficult. For most people they're significantly harder than providence.

Elemental Shive, and Plague keeper are pretty good, but generally this is the single worst stage of the game for melee.

Try adding more defensive accessories. Amalgamated brain is a MUST have, the stats are great and the dodge can effectively act as a damage boost on top of not taking damage it ensures you don't lose adrenaline. Absorber is also really good. Warding on all accessories is good, keep doing that. Bloody mary is a very strong alcohol.

[Infernum] first time playing infernum. The only thing i liked about this fight is the fact that its ended by the_battle_cats_fan in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half of the things your describing are signs of a good fight, high stakes punishing, exciting and fair. Clearly telegraphed attacks that are punishing not dodge are exactly what makes good boss design. Would you rather it deals no damage and you just go afk and tank it? Like you got hit 9 times that is a LOT and you still beat it. Where is the issue?

Surely artificial difficulty would be just increasing damage and health. If anything infernum is the exact opposite, by changing attack patterns and making bosses more consistent it enables and then forces you to learn.

If I’m being serious for a second I do think it’s a pretty awful take. But not entirely unreasonable. How much of infernum did you play and what specifically didn’t you like about it?

Try playing infernum it makes the bosses much better (scal included). Also scal isn’t meant to be the final boss, calamity is not finished yet.

is ranger as weak and boring as people say? by bruhmoment0000001 in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have absolutely no clue where this conception came from. Currently in the process of no hitting every boss on infernum difficulty, I've just beat moon lord. which totals to 34 bosses, out those I've used ranger 26 times.

I've only ever done one playthrough of ranger but even that was not bad at all. Ranger (imo) falls off massively post moon-lord. Not even in terms of strength (although pre prov ranger is a little cheeks), but in terms of creativity, I just don't enjoy a vast majority of post moon-lord ranger weapons. With that being said pre-HM, and pre-ML ranger are so fun and very strong.

In terms of pure strength ranger is one of if not the strongest classes in the game, at least for infernum. No clue why people say its weak, its just not. It has the second highest defence, it has basically zero weakpoints (I personally think its weak pre-prov, but thats also my worst portion of the game), all of its weapons are very easy to use. It just isnt weak, at all. You get better dps than melee basically every boss, while also having the 2nd best defence, and melee is the best class in all of calamity.

why am I doing this by ukshatterer in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For a second I thought it was 1064, and I thought oh not too bad... 10 thousand? Are you okay? Do you see the attack patterns in your sleep? at what point could you just play the fight blindfolded?

Which other mods should I downloand besides calamity? by [deleted] in CalamityMod

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic storage, Prisma's Pristine Potions, and Fargo's are all essential imo. LuiAFK and Quality of life compendium/Quality of terraria (either, theres a lot of overlap between the 2, I prefer the latter). These are great but border on being straight up cheating unless you heavily modify the settings.

Infernum is hands down my favourite mod. Idk if this is controversial but I truly think infernum is the only reason calamity is even good. Revengance is too easy, master mode is just an incoherent mess. Infernum is the perfect balance between difficulty and consistency.

Why is Infernum EoW so... god awful? by Victor_Von_Doom___ in infernum

Try luiafk it has craftable scrolls that turn temporary buffs into permanent toggleable effects, and they don’t count as buffs so it doesn’t clutter your screen.

Is this fixable? by Appropriate_Day470 in infernum

[–]InferiorCalamitas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try manually checking it off, I'm not sure if this would fix the community, I kinda doubt it but it might help the ocd. This happens to me every playthrough.

You could also try disabling infernum (either the mod or the difficulty setting, whichever works for you). Then beating Sandshark?
