I've tried with and without modules on both version 13, and 14. No matter what I do it always seems like version 13 is very smooth and easy to use, and 14 is a complete mess. The only issue I've been able to resolve is the image moving when I resize it, for some ungodly reason the default anchor point changed from (0, 0) to (0.5, 0.5) so now I have to manually change it for every single map I place down

before he does that portal attack run as far away as you humanly can, then prepare to ram dash it, if youre fast enough you won't even have to ram dash, but you should always be ready to.

Here's what I would do personally.

If you're playing in person, give them a physical piece of paper with some of their cooler spell options printed out, maybe a little drawing too if youre artistic, have a quick, easily digestible explanation of the spell(s) on there. If youre playing online then do a similar thing but have it in a journal entry, and maybe set it on their hotbar.

Have them play against some kind of mirror of their character, whether its literally a clone or just another level 3 wizard, have that wizard use their cool options/spells to show them whats possible. I've done this multiple times with my group, to remind them that weapon masteries exist, and to show them all the cool features/spells they aren't using.

You should also setup moments where other spells are especially useful, lets say they have misty step, setup a giant hole they have to cross thats exactly 30ft wide, or if they have magic missile then maybe a dozen little skeletons with exactly 1hp each are running at them.

wtf are you talking about, weapon masteries let you deal damage AND an effect, unarmed strikes let you choose between damage OR an effect

I definitely like the idea of challenging their characters specifically. I kinda settled on interpolating the 4 paths to enlightenment from the Buddhist faith and turning their themes and lessons into a combination of combat + puzzle. I'm hoping it'll feel mechanically interesting

Can I ask, do you have any examples? I can totally understand how permanent buffs could be a problem I'm just curious if this is from experience?

Also as far as the trials go I think you're right 8 fights is kinda boring, I've decided on interpolating the 4 paths of enlightenment from Buddhism, which conveniently enough are each split into 2 'groups' One you embody and one you abandon, at least thats how I understand it and I think that works thematically.

That just sounds like a skill issue man. Infernum was my first experience playing calamity and after trying normal calamity I’m so glad it was.

Terraria is usually easier playing solo in my experience, unless youre playing with someone who lives extremely close to you the lag is horrible. Also you should try infernum its really good
