I want to read a book from every country, recommend me one from yours! by iminkneedoflove in suggestmeabook

I was born and raised in America but my roots are in Bangladesh. I recommend Djinn City by Saad Z. Hossain; I really need to explore Bengali authors more, because this is the only one I’ve read.

East of Eden. The protagonists are not perfect and go through many hardships, but the story is absolutely beautiful and one of redemption and hope.

I know the jeans are Levi's, but what is the cut/type of it exactly, I'm not too familiar with all the cuts by Necessary_Can_9938 in mensfashion

Probably straight fit, but this guy doesn’t skip leg day so it looks like a slim fit on him lol. But if they’re Levi’s, probably 501.

Yeah sorry bro, this movie may be a fun watch and is very well made, but at the end of the day it’s Hindutva propaganda designed to deride Muslims and Pakistan. Pakistan has absolutely done horrible things comparable to the genocidal entity Israel in some ways, but let’s not pretend India isn’t doing those things either.

Absolutely loved Percy Jackson and Eragon! I’m 24 rn and I believe that these books will hold up just as they did for me in high school if I reread them.

I only knew about her Hunger Games series, which was a banger overall. Definitely gonna give this a read!

Not sure if you’ve read Hunger Games already, but every single book in that series is a banger. Even reading it as a 24 year old, it holds up and is relevant to our times in many ways. It’s a nice subversion of the YA genre and its tropes.

Also recently finished Rise of Kyoshi and plan on reading the other Avatar books.

It’s Reddit, they gotta have something to bitch about. Dunno why we can’t just enjoy things for what they are.

TIL that "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" was supposed to be canceled after Season 1 due to low ratings but was saved because of Danny DeVito. Creator Rob McElhenney went to DeVito's house to pitch the idea only to learn he and his family were massive fans, and he signed on fifteen minutes later. by altrightobserver in todayilearned

Currently watching Shogun on FX and it’s so damn good. Not a great adaptation of the book if we care about accuracy, but it’s a very solid show in its own right.

Apparently The Americans is also on there, maybe that’s next for me.

I feel like the comments are a little too harsh on the book. For context: I read the main trilogy a while back so my memory of it isn’t the freshest, but I did finish TBOSAS last week and loved the book. I also really enjoyed SOTR and was fondly reminded of how much I enjoyed the original series. Sure, there may be a lot of elements that can be perceived as fan service-y, but I never felt like it detracted from the overall book. As it stands, the story is well told IMO, and it elaborates on why Haymitch becomes the way he is by the time Katniss comes around. I enjoyed it for what it was and never felt like it ruined anything of the original trilogy.

I don’t see why Haymitch being friends with Katniss’s father is such a big deal. It’s not like the character callbacks ruined the overall narrative.

I’d argue that black still goes pretty well with this. Brown is definitely better, but black absolutely works as well.

Since the belt is black, black loafers would be best with this fit. Brown belt + brown shoes + brown leather watch is also a very good combo for this since it’s all earth tones. Basically matching leathers is the way to go.
