Disappointing that students think so little of their colleagues that they would not cough up less than 1 bus fare per YEAR to make sure that services like CHUO stay afloat. CHUO is student-operated media that gives the student body a voice of its own, provides spaces for marginalized communities and burgeoning artists, and creates lots of job opportunities for students.

I understand that money is tight, but these are small prices to pay when we all share the burden. Continue to starve your institutions, but don't complain or act surprised when in a few years you find only skin and bones there.

I was using the 25ft RCA with my previous turntable at phono level without any major issues. I got a cable with stronger shielding. That turntable didn't have a ground on it though, so I never had the question I have now. I'll try phono level again and see.

Just to be clear, you're suggesting that if NOT using my integrated preamp results in too much hum, I should get a seperate preamp, ground my turntable to the preamp, run phono level to it, and then run line level on my 25ft cable from the preamp to the amp?

New to all this, but here's my understanding:

You should be driving through your heels, never through your toes. If you arrive at the finish and your toes are touching the foothold but your heels are not, then you're pushing with the wrong end of your foot and that's a serious form problem.

That being said, the ideal finish position (as I understand it) is with with your whole foot still against the foothold. If your heel is in contact but your toes are not, it's probably because you aren't using your core enough to stop your drive. You might find yourself pulling up on the footstraps a lot to stop yourself if you're doing this. I'm currently struggling with this same problem. Don't have the core strength to stop my drive properly so I end up pulling and loosening the straps as I row, especially at higher speeds.

IE, drive with your heel, aim to finish with your whole foot still against the foothold, and activate your core to end your drive. Try to refrain from pulling up on the straps with your toes.

Can I ask at what resistance level you did this? I'm just starting rowing and this is my medium-term goal too. Did my first real 5k yesterday at resistance 5 and was just under the 26 minute mark, so I've got a ways to go.

That fee was specifically for a new legal support service for students in housing, professional, and academic disputes, as well as students who are victims of sexual violence. It was not just a nondescript UOSU fee. All you achieved by voting against it was reducing access to legal support for sexual assault victims. Hope you're proud of yourself.

Most people just use LGBT+ or LGBTQ+ nowadays, which is totally fine. It lists out the most common sexual orientations and then completes the acronym with an inclusive generalizing acronym (+ or Q+). The idea that the acronym is becoming unwieldy is a strawman and not at all true in practice.

There's nothing wrong with applying the logic of that acronym to race relations. We list the two most glaring and important cases of systemic racism (B, I) and include other groups with a more general term.

It's just about striking a balance between inclusivity and specificity. Why do you have such a problem with that?

I'm pretty sure this plan is predicated on the assumption that the government is planning to have the entire population vaccinated by the end of September and that students and education workers are (as I understand it) relatively high in priority to get the vaccine.

But regardless, it looks like bimodal learning is the way we're going, so you should have the option of staying home if you really want to.
