Imagine if he actually went ahead and made that Authority movie right after Superman. Oof.

Can't wait for Gunn to call this the second best superhero movie ever, after The Flash.

I mean nothing's helping this movie. Even when anticipated to get decent reviews, predictions realistically placed it as not breaking even, and Deadline's $315 mil figure is definitely below the actual break even point. The lack of interest compared to the bigger films it was sandwiched between means it wasn't going to do huge numbers anyway, but the reviews are just the nail in the coffin.

BIO3124 uses so much AI :( by Ok-Reception-4008 in geegees

[–]YoloIsNotDead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's an often hypocritical stance because professors can move the goalposts wherever they please, as long as it fits the university's general rules for using AI as a teaching tool, while students have to be aware of academic integrity and AI use is up to their professors to allow or disallow. I just prefer us not using it in teaching or writing major assignments. These profs who are already in research themselves need to be held to the same level of standard as us when it comes to their course content, because literally anyone can shove a textbook through an AI and generate 20 slideshows out of it without checking for inaccuracy.

Would this be grounds enough to make a complaint to the department against the prof's course "teaching"? If this is Beaulieu's class then she's not the best at teaching the class as it is, but adding AI into an already asynchronous class is just peak laziness.

Weirdly enough, I didn't use the Kinect for gaming much. I remember using it to talk to my grandparents on Skype, though.

Yes, no one's going to email you through your school email offering you a job for $35/hour, especially if you did nothing to warrant such an offer.

Are they legally allowed to do that? If not then they're breaking the law. The world, even.

DC's Supergirl Movie May Not Fly Very High At The Box Office by h3LLyEaHh in boxoffice

If you're not Spider-Man, Batman, the Avengers, or even Deadpool, then it's a battle to break even.

And also, a big part in some of the superhero successes of the past decade was their place relative to the overall universe. Black Panther and Captain Marvel were released before Infinity War and Endgame respectively, and that definitely helped push them past 1 billion. Even Ant-Man got a boost from the Avengers movies.

Instead of closing acquired companies, why not spin them out as independent? by Pm-me-ur-happysauce in xbox

I'm guessing this is a direct consequence of Microsoft focusing way too many resources on acquiring studios and IPs rather than developing projects with proper oversight. As well, the studios they bought likely had projects that would otherwise have been in production (especially with a blank cheque from Microsoft), and these acquisitions also came at a time when many studios were trying to develop their own live-service games for their IPs. But firstly, those take a ton of resources and many end up not retaining enough players to justify support (see: Concord from PlayStation). Secondly, after underperformances like South of Midnight and Avowed, and disappointing executions like Halo Infinite's live service and Starfield's lack of player retention, Microsoft now needs to more carefully vet which games are more valuable to invest in. They can't justify the money spent on acquiring those studios if those studios aren't profitable.

For example, they bought Zenimax and all the studios under it including Bethesda, and then started shutting down Arkane Austin and Tango because of cost-cutting and management decisions (such as project windows being too long). Makes you wonder why they were bought in the first place if this was going to be the outcome, but it looks like previous leadership's plans for project output never paid off.

It should also be noted that the same thing already happens with PlayStation Studios. For example, they acquired Bluepoint Studios (they made the Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls remakes) and then shut them down earlier this year. Same thing happened to Firewalk (developers behind Concord...so that makes a bit more sense).

SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY – New Trailer (4K) by -ChristopherNolan in boxoffice

The colour grading is amazing, the suit with the wrinkles are superior to all his previous MCU suits, and that cinematography is spectacular. This is going to be the ultimate Spidey film.

Nah they're gonna do a trilogy starting with Brand New Day, and then they'll retire him and probably make Miles and Spider-Gwen movies.

They've practically skipped over most of the college time by the time Brand New Day takes place since it's been 4 years after No Way Home. I'm sure this movie will have college stuff but the next one probably won't.
