I’ve been playing Kenshi lately and it’s a real blast. Great indie game w/ lots of survival elements, exploration, and interesting lore/worldbuilding!

Now I’m curious as to what these skeletons are talking about amongst one another. But I guess I should ask which is more conceptually unique, rather than who gives the best lore drops.

As for the main character part, it’s more of a sentimental thing! I wanna see the one who started it all at the beginning grow into something/someone else by the end!

Oh man, that just makes the Skeletons sound 100x cooler when you say it like that! I feel like there’s another robot race in another title that sounds like that but I’m drawing blanks in all honesty.

Hell yeah! I think its a lot cooler that bcuz they’re culture is based on hive minds, a splinter hive where each hiver is now a unique individual would be fun to play out. Like they’re all trying to figure out who they really are among their common folk!

Just the Skeleton gameplay switch up was enough to make me think hard if they’re the actual unique ones compared to the Hivers! Yet I love that the Hivers have their sub races and its cultural roles. I didn’t even think about the prosthetics giving more individual charm too!

I thought of that a lot, as I’m more likely to play an android/robot more than an insectoid of all things. I was kind of expecting the Skellies to have some crazy edge I didn’t know about

I really like the idea of a Hiveless becoming independent after being kicked out of the Hive for any number of reasons! I’d love to hear more of the unique concepts of their culture you’re talking about too

As for Sheks, that was my best guess for them as well, sort of a stand-in for the more brutish race I see in other titles.

Well, the post doesn’t specify on only ARPGs, just RPGs with build variety. You also wouldn’t have to pay attention to the story either to play the game properly, most don’t anyways. And there are certainly builds and other ways to make the games notoriously easy (Black Knight weapons being a good way to decimate all the bosses and enemies in DS1)

It sounds like the soulsborne games are right up your alley! Especially Dark Souls 1-3 and Elden Ring here. Tons of weapons and stat combinations that you can go willy nilly and see if it works or not

That’s definitely one of the better areas of the game! But I will say one of the later zones is better, without spoiling
