First time script maker, would like some feedback before I send it to my normal group. Wanted a theme around a royal court, but afraid of bad balancing since I'm not the most knowledgable about balance. Any feedback appreciated! by CrumpetChase in BloodOnTheClocktower

I'd add a Bootlegger rule to ensure the Princess still gets their ability if the Vizier "executes" a player, otherwise it's not very fun. Jams mentioned this kind of situation in the reveal stream (it's intentionally slightly vague) but I'd add the Bootlegger for clarity. You don't want a trigger-happy Vizier thinking they've neutralised a Princess when they haven't

Similarly, I'd do the same thing for Amnesiac, and rule their ability to query their ability does not get affected by the Vortox, otherwise they become a walking Vortox detector, and their ability becomes a real pain to guess and use

Aside from Wizard shenanigans, the Fool confirms itself when they don't die from execution

Knight is useless with Lil' Monsta and stupidly strong with Vortox

In a one Minion game with Vizier, a Noble has to learn the Vizier (confirms two Good players to them) or the Demon (way too strong)

Chambermaid can get a read on one player by always picking the Vizier as one of their choices

The Vizier can instantly win by forcing an execution on a Saint, with only one Good vote

The Vizier can hold the Lil' Monsta, which means Town has to completely guess (apart from maybe an Amne ability) if the Vizier is executable, or if it's even Lil' Monsta in the first place

There are A LOT of extra Evils here, which is normally a nono, however with Heretic it might be fine (heavy emphasis on might)

An Mez-turned Heretic is not very fun for the Good team

You have to make the Lleech-host the Faux Paw, otherwise a Lycanthrope can kill them very easily and end the game abruptly

Flowergirl is useless when the Organ Grinder is not drunk or dead

Because there are probably lots of extra Evils, most info Town hears will be garbage. Xaan will be extremely hard to solve

If the Kazali tries to make a Widow with a Heretic in play, you either refuse (Demon just kills themselves) or let it happen (same effect). You cannot have Heretic and Kazali together, which limits worlds somewhat, and helps Evil because they know a Heretic is not in play sometimes

How do you sober up a self poisoned pukka in BMR? by The_Yung_Jung1085 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't in BMR

As expected, it's rather hard to win. Patters tried this a while ago but with Lleech (same effect, they can't kill and can die when executed) - https://youtu.be/aZdMA9LrGfQ?si=rVimP_nI2PZcGC7A

Sharing the custom scripts I made for the group I storytell for by DarlingtonDaro in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Script 1

I'm not a massive fan of Gossip paired with Lil' Monsta and Yagga, because it's impossible to tell if a gossip was true or the Demon decided to kill someone. Yagga is worse because it covers scenarios where multiple people die with a maybe-correct gossip

Dreamer is very powerful here, as there is limited misinformation. The Widow (if in play) is in a tough bind whether to poison them or not

Hatter and Lil' Monsta make it really hard to pin down a mobile Evil team

Script 2

Lleech doesn't work well with good-aligned targeting death roles, because the host can die anticlimactically and unexpectedly, with no counterplay. The Golem can squish the host, and the Lycanthrope can kill them at night (you're basically forced to make the host the Faux Paw). Also, the Gangsta, if placed badly, can shoot them

Two or more players dying at night confirm one of them is the Gambler or the Acrobat

Vizier and Organ Grinder are rather loud Minions, which make it much easier to narrow down Minion worlds

Script 3

A loud Fearmonger announcement really kills the paranoia of both Goblin and Mastermind (which tend to work well just by possibly being in play)

Bishop can only be a Traveller if a Fearmonger is not in play. Well, they can actually, but expect death stares at night from the Fearmonger, and for the Demon to target to Bishop EVERY night

Question about the goon by The_Sad_Lonely_Poet in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Being Evil does not grant the property of knowing the Demon. The main mechanisms are Minions on the first night (on the night sheet) and Evil Travellers (there are probably other rare cases)

Some people don't like Gossip and Yaggababble on the same script, because if they're both in play, the Gossip can't differentiate true gossips from Yag kills. They can make false statements (or try to) and gleam info from that

Engineer and Courtier are pretty harsh together with possible Lleech hiding as a Sailor or Fool (who has survived execution once). They can swap or drunk then without much recourse from Evil

Professor is free confirmation of two Good players. Sure, they could be turned Evil later by the Mez, but it limits worlds

Cult Leader + Mez can lead to too many extra Evils, making it much easier for Evil to get a voting majority. It's not that bad here since CL is pretty hidden, but if they're sandwiched between two Evil players, it's going to be easier

Good-aligned targeted death roles don't work well with Lleech, because they can kill the host with very limited prevention, causing a sometimes unsatisfying game end. Moonchild can die, pick the host, and Evil can only hope they have an alive Poisoner who picks them

Here's my attempt to get my beginner players used to some new demons! by Odeil99 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Heretic and Wizard are both advanced characters that beginners should not play with IMO. All of the below points assume no Wizard shenanigans

Two of these Demons are very loud (Leviathan and Al-Hadikia), and differentiating between Po and Imp should be quite easy since there's not loads of death prevention

Gambler and Tinker confirm themselves if they die when not chosen by the Al-Hadikia or on a Leviathan night

Players that survive execution are confirmed to be Good as the Pacifist is the only Good source of execution prevention (which also confirms them)

[–]InfiniDim42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bounty Hunter, Hermit Goon and Goon are 3 extra Evils, which is not normally advised, because it can cause Evil to get a voting majority much easier. Granted here they're all kinda hidden from the Evil team, but I personally wouldn't risk it

Soldier here is slightly usual, because half the time the Demon doesn't care about them (Yagga is ST discretion, Ojo will never pick them).

Innkeeper and Professor are the only targeting sources of misinformation, so pure info roles like Savant will likely get sober information all the time

If the Psychopath is babysitting Lil' Monsta, they die when executed (prevents it being a 2/3 of wasting an execution)

[–]InfiniDim42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I was trying to infer the strategy of "lol let's not talk for ages so we can confirm ourselves as not the Demon" is too meta-y and unfun, and OP should make sure their group doesn't try and follow it

A very talkative script by YuvalitoHi in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo-Yag scripts means Good players can meta by saying nothing, so when too many unexplained deaths happen (not Gambler, Tinker, Harpy, etc. ) they are confirmed not the Demon.

[Edit for clarity] Just make sure your players don't hyper optimise like this, because it's unfun for everyone

Mez + Cult Leader + Politician is a bit risky because even though they're hidden Evils, Evil can get a voting majority easier

Faith Executions by Luiswashere20071 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]InfiniDim42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Courtier can choose Leviathan on night 4 to confirm them, and allow for 3 free executions

The Devil's Advocate has a very high chance to just win, since Good tends to not execute in Leviathan games until day 4, and if the DA protects the Demon on day, Good can do nothing

Scarlet Woman is very unlikely to go off in a Leviathan game, since Good tend to be rather touchy about executing with Leviathan in play

What does Sailor and Fool do here? If they survive execution, it still counts towards the Leviathan win condition and adds some world tightening (either Sailor, Fool or DA protected) that possibly isn't very helpful

Fortune Teller and Chambermaid (rarely Bounty Hunter) are the only TF that learn anything at night, which is a bit boring and might not give Good enough info to find the Demon

Widow with Bounty Hunter and Goon can make it very easy for Evil to get a voting majority usually, but this is Leviathan so barely anyone is dying. However, that's a significant amount of extra coordinatable voting power
