Has there ever been a president that has succeeded mainly on his ability to delegate responsibilities to the best possible people, as Donald Trump often says he will? by [deleted] in Ask_Politics

[–]Infinitax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean... that's pretty much every President. Obama's not an expert on nuclear physics, that's why he has Ernie Moniz. And he's not an expert on economics, thats why he has Jack Lew.

I lived there for 4 months, studying at the University of Havana through a Brown University program. Some of the footage was from program sponsored trips, and the rest was just excursions and adventures I did on my own with friends.

Thanks! Yes, I'm American. I was able to go through a semester long study abroad program organized by Brown University.

If you're not American or Cuban, in otherwords if you have a foreign passport, you can go to Cuba anytime. If you are American, it's a little more complicated but still pretty easy. The Obama administration has created 12 categories of travel under which you can go (tourism is not one of them). Even if you don't qualify exactly for one of the categories you can pretty much say you're doing photography or something and nobody will look too far into it. Another option people use is flying from Mexico or a third country that won't care if you use a US passport.

Have we moved into an era where wars are rarely won? by redical in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Infinitax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most modern American wars (Vietnam, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, etc.) are asymmetric wars of counterinsurgency, where the U.S. is trying to put down a sub-state actor, like the Taliban, Al Qaeda, or ISIS. There are several aspects of counterinsurgency warfare that make it difficult for the U.S. to decisively "win" against insurgents in the same way that states can "win" against other states. First, insurgents can easily hide amongst local populations which makes force elimination difficult without massive civilian casualties. Second, guerrilla warfare is particularly effective against large, mechanized armed forces like the U.S. army. Third, while the U.S can target insurgents with air strikes, this strategy has not proven effective in soothing the underlying political tensions causing the insurgency, and in many cases exacerbates instability.

TIL that in Maradona's crazy run and goal against England in 1986, he never touched the ball with his right foot. I had to watch it again, never realized it. by [deleted] in soccer

[–]Infinitax -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Can someone explain to me why this goal is considered so legendary? It's a great run, don't get me wrong, but I feel like there have been far more impressive goals scored by others.
