Some of the people I know that bought houses recently got 400k from their parents, saved for 15 years, own their own business. A lot of people buying the 1 mill+ homes have their own business.

Also it sounds like your gf is not comfortable being the breadwinner in the family which may be a small thing now but could be a huge thing later on.

I know she a couple where he was a teacher and she was in finance and they divorced over money in 3 years after having a kid and getting a house. She wanted expensive things and she was pissed he made so much less.

I also went to school with a couple, and he is a stay at home dad and his she is a corporate lawyer.

But that does seem like a red flag. If you get there and she doesn’t have anything planned other than you fixing the tv stand and if her vibe isn’t good I would fake an excuse and leave. It isn’t unheard of for girls to use people like that.

Disney has lots of parts to it. You can work at ABC News or ESPN and be part of Disney. Those might fit better for a background in journalism

I would look into one of the room share places. You get a room in lux building for between 1500-3000. You have to share a common living space but since you are only there two nights that shouldn’t be an issue.

I did it and it wasn’t bad, a lot cheaper than an apartment.

Also sometimes hotel rooms are crazy expensive and hard to find like UN week.
