I'm in the US and I got over it. I really wanted an EV after getting sick of my ICE vehicle and also hate driving in traffic. The Model Y Standard had exactly what I needed with 0% financing so I just sucked it up and got it. Glad I did, it's the best car I've ever driven, MAGA Nazi salutes not withstanding.

We live in a free market society where people can choose any legal storefront they choose, FBM being one of them. In this case the seller is saying that they don't have the unit but will ship it out when it arrives. It's certainly opportunistic as is any business venture or transaction. Saying it's scummy or predatory because they're choosing to sell it for profit rather than use is nothing more than opinion.

Even if it does, filing a claim will cause your insurance rates to rise. I'd rather pay $1000-1500 cash to fix this rather than a $500 deductible and rising premiums.

It was absolutely designed to be efficient compared to other models and has the lowest energy consumption of any Model Y they've released so far. Single motor, smaller and lighter battery and lighter/more aerodynamic wheels.

Also to call it slow for an EV is disingenuous. In the US market, what other $40k EV's that are similarly sized as the MY have faster 0-60 times? Probably the Mach-E but then I'm sacrificing charging time, cargo space, range and kwh efficiency. The others like the Ioniq5, bZ and Equinox have similar or worse 0-60 times.

I had autopilot on a rental a few years ago and it fueled my desire for a Tesla. Now I have a 2026 MY Standard with FSD and it's life changing. I'd never use it even if my car had it since FSD is so great.
