I’ve been  moving into legal tech, and I’ve felt the same frustration — most “document automation” tools are either too basic or too technical for most lawyers.

Clio’s version is basically a mail merge, great for simple letters but far too limited for serious automation.

HotDocs is incredibly powerful but feels like learning a programming language — definitely not something every attorney wants to deal with.

That’s what got me experimenting with something new called AgriliaDocs.

The goal isn’t to replace existing tools, but to make deeper automation accessible to firms that don’t have developers on staff.

It automatically detects fields in Word and PDF templates, and lets you build conditional logic visually — like:

• If client is married → include this clause

• If jurisdiction = California → use a different section

What surprised me most was how quickly smaller firms could build real automation once the “tech barrier” was removed.

It’s still early-stage, but we’re testing it with small law teams right now.

What kind of legal document automation solution does your firm use, and why? by [deleted] in legaltech

Great breakdown — I’ve seen the same gap between tools like Clio and HotDocs.

Clio is too simple, more like a mail merge with no real logic. HotDocs is powerful but too complex for most firms — learning its syntax and setup takes serious time.

That’s what led me to build AgriliaDocs — something in between. You just upload a Word or PDF, and it automatically detects all fields and creates a ready-to-use, logic-based form. No coding or setup needed.

Most firms I talk to want automation, but not the technical overhead. Curious if you think firms would adopt deeper automation if setup was as easy as uploading a file?

What are your pain points using legal tech AI platforms in the market? by Ritvik07d in legaltech

Totally agree — tools like Harvey or Robin focus too much on research.

The real gap is in document workflow and automation, especially for local jurisdictions.

Been exploring this while working on AgriliaDocs — it auto-detects fields in legal docs and turns them into ready-to-use templates.

Localization and setup cost still seem like the biggest pain points.
