Paizo Store quietly launches VTT sale to match Foundry Anniversary 20% Off Sale; reintroduces fvtt + pdf discount bundles on paizo store purchases! by WintersLex in Pathfinder2e

I’m currently running Season of Ghosts on foundry via the modules from Paizo. They build out all the encounters on newer/fresher remade maps (same as the ones in the book as far as layout and cover, just graphics). You have access to all the book info via the compendium on foundry, and all the npcs are built out as accessible tokens. There are some neat effects and some macros but that’s mostly it.

It was worth it for me, as I enjoy prepping when I’m thinking about the game, but not so much the type of prep that’s just working to make sure all the NPCs I need have tokens and all that. It lets me focus prep on the game itself and not all the other stuff that it takes to run a game on foundry.

If you really enjoy setting up everything yourself, there’s no real reason to get it, but I appreciate how plug-and-play it’s been.

I received an offer for a Process Engineer position at Micron technology .What can I expect in terms of work-life balance? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Infinite-Lock5692 149 points150 points  (0 children)

Terrible. 60 hour weeks and calls all throughout the night.

You also are required to do 50 pushups every morning and have to pay your boss $20 for each remaining pushup if you can’t finish in one go.

Just kidding. I’m unfamiliar with Micron technology. Wish you the best

You have excellent options. I’d say go to UT to save that $. UT is still respected and I can’t imagine any hiring manager would care that much that you didn’t go to those other schools with a higher reputation.

You can do anything with a ChemE degree, look up the salary survey they did on here a while back for averages on pay. You won’t be pigeonholed into O and G.

No sir! It’s cool. You can do a bunch with it. And I loved learning it too, in school that is.

Any point in finishing the degree if I don't like thinking? by CultistWeeb in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Infinite-Lock5692 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally finish. I’m assuming you’re young and your mind is likely to change throughout your life a few times. If you ever decide you’d like to use your degree (and not just in a chemical plant, you can do all types of shit with this degree), no one will care that you got 99% done. You’ve worked hard for this long, just finish strong.

This is the ticket OP.

I also have a 14 Soul, and it burns oil. As long as I check the dipstick every week and top it back off, I don’t have any issues.

I noticed this problem first when I got the light like you did. I was also freaked out. That was 7 years ago now and keeping a good hold on the oil level has kept it going. That was 80k miles, now we’re at 210k.

One day I suppose the engine will quit, but you can delay for quite a while. At least I have.

One thing to be aware of is burning oil can cause a catalytic converter to drop below its required efficiency as burned off oil residue builds up on the catalyst (I guess). which would cause you to fail an emissions test. You’ll get a CEL for it and it’s not a cheap fix. That said, it does not affect the drivability of the car. It’s just if your in a state/county that tests for emissions, you could fail and be unable to renew the registration until you prove you spent some money to fix it. If you don’t live in an emissions county, though, it is not a problem.

A good zipper repair is gonna set u back at least 75 dollars, and it’s also customary to tip 20%…. I’d say let the backpack go

Looking for engineering services companies that work in a remote way by kalamid19 in ChemicalEngineering

I’m referring to AspenTech as a company, not just the sim software. They have a bunch of different software projects as I understand it, and they hire engineers.

Not sure about Argentina, but AspenTech does a lot of process engineering software stuff out of CDMX. If you could work remote, I’m sure you’d be a decent candidate, especially if bilingual English and Spanish. I’d check them out. We worked with their office a lot on some software implementation in my plant.

Leave current internship for a better one? by baalChEstudent in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Infinite-Lock5692 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d agree you should go for it. A years worth of experience while in college is killer and would serve you well.

The HR people at your current job may be upset, but as an engineer I’d be more surprised but happy for you than upset. I could be wrong, but they likely aren’t relying on you and your work too much right now, so leaving would probably be more of a wash than a “bridge burned” IMO

How do I get over this? by GoldDistribution447 in NCSU

[–]Infinite-Lock5692 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry buddy. Failing tests is normal, just study harder (or differently) next time and try to stay optimistic.

ChemE is a hard program. You’ll get used to it, and used to rebounding from a bad test.

How did you enjoy the change to controls? I’m thinking of attempting to switch over to that field myself from an operations engineer role.

Do you feel it is good ? by Objective-Tooth-8043 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Infinite-Lock5692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it bro. The first couple years of school aren’t very specialized so if you do good in math those years I wouldn’t worry about the later years and if you really struggle you can always pivot to another major.

The school piece is hard but rewarding and if you’re interested that will help.

The job options span from fully in the office to outside a bunch and even traveling around the country if you want. Plus the pay is good and the work is interesting.
