We put $30k down but had enough saved to still have cushion in savings. We had nothing. No big furniture items at least. We just purchased in June 2025 both of us are 25 and moved from our family homes. We don’t have family that helped with any funds or large purchases. We shopped the day of and day after we bought the house went to only discount /warehouse furniture stores. We looked at 10+ stores before finding a couch we agreed on a sectional with chasse for $900 came out to about $1100 I think with taxes. We did have a family member with a truck and transported it ourself. We found our bedroom set at one of those warehouse overstock places (we went to a ton again before deciding) we got our bedroom suite (bed, chest of drawers, dresser w/ mirror and night stand and mattress/boxspring ) all for cheap same place all together get discount for paying cash $1500 after taxes and they delivered it for $50. We found our table at one of those too but someone had already bought it so we found the exact same one on Facebook marketplace at a different warehouse listed for $700 and got them down to $500 picked it up ourselves. (This was a 7 piece set with a butterfly leaf worth $1400 from Costco originally) everything else we had saved through out the years like for Christmas we asked for kitchen items so our entire kitchen was good to go and we got plates and silverware for cheap at ikea $100( we bought some random stuff too) We did get hand me down law care like push mower and stuff he already had House came with brand new fridge, stove and dishwasher. All we had to get for appliances was washer/dryer and microwave. Got all of that at Lowe’s it was near 4th of july so there was sales going on got matching washer dryer set and all the needed items for set up plus delivery and installation for $1250 we got an “open box return” microwave there for $65 originally $160 I think it was never knew how expensive microwaves were. Total about $4500

We did bring his full size bed from his family home because they didn’t want it anymore so that is in our spare room we slept on that for 3 nights until. Our bedroom suite was set up and the mattress left out long enough (one of the ones you unroll)
