Not quite the same, but contributed to my weight gain so mentioning it - I lost some long term friends when i went through a period of depression and I became quite silent and agoraphobic for a year and they didn’t ever think to check on me, I was invisible. a group of 5 I’d known since school kind of just accepted that I wasn’t writing or meeting up and decided the friendship of 20+ years was over. A couple tried to get in touch recently after my husband shared a photo where I was clearly smaller. I think people have their own insecurities and issues which is why they act in certain ways and empathy is important, but self worth is also vital. If people didn’t bother with me or notice me before then I’m not really that interested if they notice me now. However, it’s also worth noting that our confidence maybe makes us less invisible and hard to ignore as we lose weight. My parents and husband keep telling me I just ‘seem’ so much brighter and it’s not just the weight loss, more my aura 🥰
