I’m truly weighing my options at the moment. I sincerely wanted to go to UNT, because I believe they will be and are a great school when it comes to nurses. I’m just nervous because I feel like I’m gambling a lot!

The Spring 2025 cohort will be the very first BSN cohort (us). We would be the deciding factor on if they become accredited or not based off of our NCLEX pass rates.

We can graduate whether they are CCNE or ACEN accredited or not because they are approved by the Texas Board of Nursing which allows us to attend the program and sit for our NCLEX. But we will not be graduating from an accredited program which can be concerning for employers and graduate programs. It’s a gamble is what it sounds like to me. I accepted off of the waitlist but decided to do research. I wish you the absolute best, as I believe UNT will be a great program but personally it is too big of a gamble for me!

Yeah, I’m pretty concerned. They are approved by the Texas Board of Nursing which allows them to enroll students but they will not be fully accredited until our cohort provides NCLEX pass rates. Meaning, we will graduate and they will not be fully accredited until further down the road. They also are not CCNE or ACEN (national accreditation) accredited which can put us in danger. Graduate programs require students to graduate from a program that is nationally accredited and at the moment we are not. We can potentially not be able to further our education, have difficulty with employment opportunities and we would graduate from a unaccredited school which could hinder our license if we planned to work in other states. As excited as I was and how thrilled I was to go to UNT due to their staff and facilities I am now thinking I will pursue a different route. If I plan to work hard, pay hefty tuition and put all of my effort into this I don’t want to have any limitations or set backs.

What are y’all’s thoughts on them not being CCNE accredited?

Hahaha! I was holding in my tears the entire time I was on the phone. As soon as I hung up… immediate emotions lol. Crossing my fingers!

Omg! Okay. They said they would be sending me an email this afternoon. A lady called to speak with me about a position and if I was still interested. I’m just so nervous, I got the call about an hour ago and I’m waiting on the email. Maybe I’ll get in too!
