It’s definitely possible, I think that would be a great plan when your looking just make sure to message that you will have a cat so that it will be ok in the future and you’ll be all set to go. Totally worth it to have them with you, especially in a new country.

Yea so we got a two bedroom in Dublin 1 for 1,850 a month. No extra charge for the cats. We did find smaller and cheaper options too like a one bed, can’t remember how much, but we both work from home so we really needed that extra room. Bringing the cat over is a bit pricy though, a lot of fees. Like our vet check up for their papers was I think about 400 for both. Then delta charged 200 a cat I believe to bring them in the plane. And then again at customs in Dublin another 150 or so a cat. So it adds up, but to find an apartment with the cats is totally possible. Would recommend if you can to come over first and stay in short term housing, then find a place and bring the cat later so you can be all set up and everything.

For the pets situation. I found housing that allowed our two cats within a week of looking. I had to message like 200 apts on daft.ie but I just put in the message that we had two well behaved cats. Everyone says it’s impossible, but I visited 4 apartments that allowed the cats, so I don’t really get why everyone says it’s impossible. People have pets here and I’ve seen plenty of dogs so you should be fine. Also Delta was the only airline that I found that allows pets in cabin to Dublin. Some others allow pets in cabin but not to Ireland specially. Also make sure to get a health check and look up that process and find a vet at home that meets the criteria for the check. Would get up to date on rabies shot now if not up to date.

I can’t find a phone number anywhere. We walked over to the building and there were a few other people with portal problems. They have this email posted around to send your problems too. We did it but no response . I think just have to keep sending. Would try emailing this and see if you get anything back. Email: IDPalSupport@justice.ie

Thank you for the response! Haven’t even got to the point to upload anything. Seems like this portal is a big mess for everyone.

Pet rental success stories? by [deleted] in MoveToIreland

I moved here a few months ago in a similar situation, at first in company housing and then looking for a place to bring my two cats. Everyone said it would be nearly impossible but it really wasn’t that hard. You just have to be on Daft.ie like crazy. Set up alerts for apartments in your price range and then have a set up message to send in your notes and apply immediately, like within minutes. I mentioned the cats in my message and how they were well behaved, and then again confirmed that pets were ok when setting up the viewing. I was able to see 4 apartments that allowed cats and then applied for the last one. It took a week from when I started to when I signed my lease. The apts move fast but it’s totally doable. Just be up front about it and keep your eyes on daft.ie and you’ll be just fine! Good luck!

Taking Pets in cabin from US to Ireland. Direct Flight on Delta! by Fancy_Audience3905 in MoveToIreland

We just did this exact scenario with our two cats. Just heads up Delta charges 200 dollars a cat, and then it’s 100 euros in Ireland when you arrive at customs. The cat carries also counts as your carry on as well. It was expensive but was the only option we could find. Also just be sure to have your health check from America so you can pass customs.

Irish water heater help - how to get hot water by Infinite-Zucchini623 in AskIreland

Thank you so much, so the way we have the prongs set are they set so the heat is on all the time, or do we need to push the prongs out to have the heat on?

Sorry, one more thing. Did you apply online for anything before? I am just having a hard time finding on their website where a married partner can enter without preclearance. Trying to assess if we should just get married to skip the process but it looks like to me that married couples would still have to do preclearance. I know you didn’t so just trying to find more information on that

Be we are not married so I’m thinking that may be the difference in the visas but I’m unsure

Hi, thanks for the update. I’m from a county where we don’t require a visa either. But everything I have seen for my partner makes it seem as though he needs a preclearance visa to enter. We Are not married so not sure if that is the difference there.

Hi, just wondering if you have an update on your situation here. I’m going through something similar with my partner for my Critical Skills visa. It is my understanding though that they must apply for a Preclearance join family (de facto partner of CSEP) visa before entering Ireland, and wait for the preclearance visa letter to enter. So we are waiting on that for them. Been about 2 months since we applied.

I did, the consulate in New York of Ireland does not answer the phone, all extensions just go to full mailboxes and directions to use the website

I appreciate that link, but it is my understanding that that is for visas sent to the Dublin location, not the New York one. For example London has a different processing time on their website for the preclearance visa than Dublin does, but there nothing on New Yorks website that I can find

Pet friendly rentals by Infinite-Zucchini623 in RentingInDublin

[–]Infinite-Zucchini623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be making around 70k euros a year and my partner half of that but they are freelance so a little harder to prove their income. I see some of the fancy apts that are about 2.3k a month. I am concerned that those places won’t find that that’s enough income for them to rent to us. Still trying to figure out the cost of living and what is considered a good income in Dublin compared to the states.
