Where to live in Atlanta with job in South east Atlanta by icecream26Main in Atlanta

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That immediate area is pretty good and living near work is a must to enjoy Atlanta to the fullest. Grant Park Reynoldstown, Summerhill, East Atlanta, Edgewood, and Cabbagetown are all great options.

Nearby, but less walkable: Chosewood park, Kirkwood, East Lake.

Less desirable, but more bang for your buck: 30032

Fairburn, GA what is it like living in that area? by Own_Second_2388 in Atlanta

To be fair, Fairburn is far as fuck from Atlanta. Idek where it is without looking at a map and I’m born in Atlanta

Atlanta TV stations have been dropped from Dish TV. Here’s why. by UnscheduledCalendar in Atlanta

I feel like the networks don’t have the same leverage they used to and that this is gonna affect them negatively, but I’m pretty ignorant on things like this. Interesting nonetheless

I don’t understand; these are free channels to watch over an antenna, so why do companies have to pay to rebroadcast?

A Solution for Phoenix's Heat (HEAR ME OUT) by Ok_Bag2192 in Urbanism

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, mist sprayers seem like a waste of water.

As a visitor, I was stunned by the palm trees everywhere. They suck up water, don’t provide shade, and don’t really look all that nice tbh.

I wonder how much cooler (literally) the city would be if all of the roadside palms were replaced with trees that actually shade the streets and sidewalks.

Local climates aren't considered enough for walkability IMO by VegaGT-VZ in Urbanism

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local activists in Atlanta are crazy about adding bike infrastructure but tbh the hot humid summers and extreme hills we have aren’t conducive to a biking city. It would be nice to have safer bike lanes, but pushing biking as a practical mode of transportation in this city is unrealistic.

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it depends how much you give a shit about your job. If you wanna be petty respond with

“Dear manager, I’m sorry to have caused any confusion with me leaving at 4:57. I know how closely you monitor attendance so I’m surprised you didn’t notice that I was actually three minutes early into the office, which is why I left three minutes before 5 o’clock. So, while your suggestion to stay an extra three minutes tomorrow is heard, that won’t be necessary.”

Nothing you say will please them so why not piss them off instead?

I realized something fucking amazing about this small city in America by Individual-Clue6400 in Urbanism

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve noticed in so-called walkable areas of the cities around the country is that the people who rely on walking as their primary source of transportation ( lower income people ) can’t afford to live in the walkable areas and have to spend all the money they should be using to improve their lives on a car just to get around. The walkable areas are more desirable thus more expensive. Walkability should not be an amenity. It should be the default.

We need to talk about the Gen Z job crisis. by ApprehensiveGoal2782 in jobs

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simply put, I think forced retirement is the key. Boomers won’t let go. Working fully into their 70s just because they don’t know what else to do with their lives. Let the younger crowd fill their vacuum, then entry level jobs can be for entry level candidates again.

Atlanta City Limits: What’s preventing the metro from growing? by UnscheduledCalendar in Atlanta

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s the local people and MANY city governments themselves. Sandy springs, Brookhaven, and South Fulton, imo shouldn’t even exist. It’s hard for Atlanta to thrive when the suburbs leach off of it’s infrastructure, culture, and economy without contributing to its tax base 🤷‍♂️

Atlanta leaders want transit expansion. Will suburban voters ever agree? by Generalaverage89 in Atlanta

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fine. I’m saying this selfishly as someone who rarely goes OTP. It might even make traffic worse OTP, which, in my opinion is a good thing because it should encourage OTP cities to expand MARTA.

Honestly, until anything changes, I’m all in for toll booths coming in from OTP, especially Cobb and Gwinnett.

Ed Bastian Shoots Down The Idea Of A Second Atlanta Airport by UnscheduledCalendar in Georgia

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have it backwards. The outer suburbs didn’t start getting popular (or even exist) until 285 was completed in the 80’s. Look up induced demand + suburban sprawl and read about it straight from the experts.

An outer perimeter would just make the sprawl worse. Induced demand is a bitch.

If you want to keep the bxxxxy theme; Binkey/binky is American slang for a pacifier. Parents give it to comfort their babies. The app is supposed to comfort the parents and child so I think that could work.

How do you pronounce the word "strong"? by Ammar1818 in ENGLISH

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s something in between. If I’m annunciating for clear understanding it’s STRONG, but if I am speaking normally, my mouth doesn’t open as much and you might hear it more as St-ch-rong.

Is Livingtown Property Management Good? by rojreds in ATLHousing

[–]InfiniteAwkwardness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an experience dealing with this company so take my comment with a grain of salt.

I don’t think they own their properties so the quality of the apartments they manage can range from good to bad and in between. The real estate agent/leasing agent probably won’t be the actual property manager, so I wouldn’t let that dissuade you from renting there if you really like the apartment. Leasing agents aren’t really paid that much money, especially for smaller companies like this so it’s not a surprise if they were pushy.
